Aspiring game dev. Terrible at social media. Actually just terrible at social. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It seems to me that in the professional world, Godot is still seen as something of The Little Game Engine That Could. Which is a little disappointing. It's been pretty great.

Oh nooo. I do/don't miss coding for RPG Maker. The simplicity of javascript is wonderful, but also quite limiting.

This is why I gave people I know a 2 week warning to find me elsewhere, and yesterday, downloaded my data, and started the account deletion. Gotta keep the main Meta account for the Oculus though. Not in a financial position to replace a pricey gift such as that.

Good old shallow copy - array 2 is just a reference to array 1. You unfortunately gotta iterate array 1 and copy the elements to array 2. But depending on what you use, maybe there's a built-in and/or better thing to use. :D

Well, upside being, side project or just tinkering with things, I'm likely to learn something new. Learning is always good.

I had to replace an ailing motherboard not too long ago. Got a new mb & CPU, kept everything else. Didn't want to pay for Windows again. Now using Garuda Linux. Have had a game not run, and 2 apps not run. Adding the apps to Steam allowed them to work with no issue. My workflow is largely unchanged.

Mine is a survivors-like, too, at least in part (and the first part I'm working on), and I'm having so much fun with it! Hopefully you are too! 😀

True! Part of my progress was how not to do something, so I guess that's something, too. Sometimes life does get in the way, though. I think we all just try to keep pushing onward when it happens.

I usually listen to Axiom Verge 1 & 2, Dredge, and Breath of the Wild. Other stuff too, but those the most.

Godot for meeeee. I WAS using Game Maker but was coming up against some limitations, especially with terrain generation.

It can be, absolutely! It's not better and better over the years. I just wish when coming up against something that I need to look, I didn't see so many responses by people that need to get their noses out of the clouds, hop off their high horses, and talk like a human.

True but I'm pretty sure I blocked out my memories of C from college. 🤣

It's not the first time I did that, either. I did the exact same thing in game maker. That's what makes it extra hilarious, to me at least.

Yeah, for some silly reason I just assumed additional tiles would follow the seed but I don't actually have anything setting them that way... Oh well. Tomorrow me can swear at now me for it. XD

Well, with respect, Twootle there ain't exactly bringing its best. Do remember, many of us striving to make games, or actually in the biz already started by playing games, and likely still do.

Unfortunately there's always starry-eyed new grads for them to churn so probably just shy of never. :(

I had started in GameMaker Studio, but after tinkering with it a bit, I decided to switch to Godot Engine. I think I'm slowly becoming a Weird Nerd (tm), but I just didn't feel like being beholden to a corporation, mostly spurred on by Unity's shenanigans.

I feel this so much. I think a lot of us tinker with a lot of different things before we settle on something.

As an alternative, I would definitely recommend anything from gamedev.tv.

I don't even know where I would look for that. Plus it does actually seem to just be doing it at random - it happened while just sitting on the main tv menu. The funny part about you being the one to respond, with that avatar... I was just trying to play Tears of the Kingdom. XD

You can't get me to touch Zenva with a 10-foot pole ever again... Got a bundle, signed up with them, didn't fill in details like name because email/pass were all they required. Within the week, I was getting email flyers addressed to "Leah Axon." They have a required "share with partners" checkbox.

Well... this feels like a good place to start. Right here, in #gamedev

"Pregnant" and "anxiety"? Yes, one would certainly lead to the other, considering I had one long enough ago to be an adult and am done with that. The latter, though, that's just ever-present.

Definitely necessary, as is a cute squeak noise when they bounce.
