I don’t know a single disabled person who had any type of assistance “handed out” to them. I do, however, know of countless disabled people who need to prove their permanent disability every year with seemingly endless paperwork and hardly get by.

The best thing about Saturday mornings. #Caturday

Cutting benefits does not make disabled people able to work. Removing remote work does not make disabled people able to work. Accommodating people’s needs does however allow more disabled people to work and thrive.

For some folks, like disabled people who are unable to go places, social media is where they are able to experience socialization and also how their voice is able to reach other people. It also enables people to find their communities.

Got home earlier today. Periwinkle is very happy it.

despite everything, it’s still you

It's BlueSky #Caturday time so here is Loki proving that If I fits, I sits.

A charming little piece for Sunday: a terracotta figurine of a #cat playing the harp. From #Egypt, #Roman period, late 1st century AD. On display at Museum August Kestner, Hannover. Have a lovely Sunday! 📷 by me 🏺 AncientBlueSky #archaeology

These rescued cougar cubs are still shy around people, but their playful side comes out at night.

Have an ice day Amur tiger brothers Luka and Dmitri love to snack on frozen goat milk. Their rough tongues can lick meat off a bone (or take down a tasty popsicle)!

We'd ask our clownfish for jokes, but truth is, they're not as funny as you'd think.

Hey #ChronicIllness community, is there a symptom tracker app you like? Want to start trying (for the 50th time) to monitor mine. #MECFS #Pots Please repost to reach more folks.

Feeling rather alone tonight and in my feels about how the emergency system has been failing to save the #disabledcommunity for decades. People want us to feel positive but how are we to do that when we're always othered and made to seem as less than. Pray for L.A.

The overwhelming grief of no longer being able to walk or stand has been a lot on me lately. Transitioning to a full-time wheelchair user from being able bodied is tough. Good thing I have therapy tomorrow. I have a lot to unpack mentally.

🗞️ Happy news for today: Disabled scientists help improve access to research! The International Association for Geoscience Diversity is leading the way to adapt field trips and labs, using tools like drones and AI to make science accessible for those with mobility, sight, and hearing disabilities.

Now that I'm a full-time wheelchair user I feel more like a rotisserie chicken than a disabled person. Did you know you have to rotate your seating position every 2 hours if you can't stand? 🍗
