We're already over $500 and 1/3rd to our goal of $1,500 for The Trevor Project! šŸ¤āœØ

Still short by $5,000! Please share even if you can’t donate so I can continue to get lifesaving neurosurgical care in New York (the closest specialists to me, treating multiple issues I’ve had for decades)

So if you don’t want to live in a world where writing an article like this becomes punishable by up to 14 years in prison - as it will be, the author notes, if Starmer gets his way - then the time to stand up and be counted is *now*. #PalestineAction www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

If you want a powerful but factual summary of Labour’s upcoming benefit cuts, read this from @johnharris1969.bsky.social - with a bonus take down of Suzanne O’Sullivan’s repulsive ā€œover-diagnosisā€ book. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

They keep softening the figures too. PIP is a gateway benefit so lose that & you lose much more. Many stand to lose in excess of £12k a year so most of what keeps them afloat. Not well enough to work and not disabled enough for support, what are they meant to do? #TakingThePIP #WelfareNotWarfare

ā€œThis year, for the first time in over 15 years, the number of countries that criminalise consensual same-sex relationships went up. In 65 countries around the world, our lives – the lives of the people in this room – are now criminalised.ā€ – Alex Farrow www.thepinknews.com/2025/06/20/k...

Alex Crawford has made a documentary following British doctors Victoria Rose & Tom Potokar in Gaza The need was immense as soon as they arrived & Rose was immediately treating children with horrific injuries caused by Israeli attacks

Add these two together and it’s a recipe for disaster

🧵 Several people have raised questions about what I meant by "deservedly so" when referring to the decline of institutional trust. It's a fair question, so I want to explain that, because it sits at the heart of my work on how democracies collapse when their epistemic foundations rot.

"Hope Survives." I'm a bit late for May the 4th, but have SO much of my own personal Star Wars art (and official Star Wars Legion art) to share here.

In the 54 days since the Supreme Court ruling, the Mail, Telegraph, Times and Guardian have, between them, printed 334 articles about trans people.

Wherever you live in the world, your climate is getting warmer. 21st June is #ShowYourStripes day when we encourage everyone to use the warming stripes graphics to talk about climate change and how we are all already experiencing the consequences. Download your stripes: www.ShowYourStripes.info

When I was a kid I asked my Dad in the car how he knew which way to go. He told me the indicators told him when to turn. I watched in amazement every time those little orange lights ticked on and off; It took me years to figure out that he controlled the indicators.

US climate scientists need all the help they can get. Including from foul-mouthed comedians! 🤔😱😱 Watch Emmy Award-Winning David Cross team up with Prof Michael Oppenheimer in the US launch of the hit series "Climate Science Translated". #climate #arresteddevelopment #climatescience

Despite very much NOT being a celebrity (!), I’m proud to be one of the over 100 disabled people undersigning this letter to Keir Starmer as part of the #TakingThePIP campaign against cuts to disability services. Read the letter & share: takingthepip.co.uk

By betraying his voters so comprehensively and so soon, Keir Starmer has done us a favour. He has given us 4 years to design the government we want. In this week's column I explain how it can be done. There's massive potential, but we need to start now. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

ā€œThe illusion Labour relies on – that there is no money – has gone up in a puff of smoke. If there’s cash to keep pensioners warm in winter, why aren’t there ways to raise funds to do the same for children or disabled people?ā€ My col. on Starmer’s u-turns. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This is why disabled people and trans people must be in solidarity with each other at all times - transphobia cannot exist without ableism. The idea that you have the right to another person's medical details and that your opinion on their care should carry any weight at all is ableist at its core.

"For 17 weeks, I’ve been in constant pain, going back and forth… I said from the start I felt it was cancer." "Not one doctor did the scans or blood tests I begged for whilst crying on the floor in agony. Instead, they dismissed me, gaslit me, and told me it was nothing, that I was overreacting."

The ultimate irony of halving net immigration numbers: You can do it without reducing small boats crossings at all!! This is Nigel Farage’s immigration doom-loop & Starmer is up to his neck in the death trap like the Tories before him šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Incredibly brave of them to do this ā™€ļøšŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøāœŠ

When did we decide that the only way a person can ā€œcontributeā€ to society is economically? Why have we allowed the billionaires and capitalism to train us to see worth in such binary terms? Many people contribute in other ways. Your worth should never be tied to your job.

The Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill gives the UK state unprecedented powers of surveillance on the bank accounts of the poor, old, sick and disabled people receiving benefits. You won't be told, can't appeal against it and no court order is needed. Are you ready for it?

Two terminally-ill disabled women are to lodge a complaint with the United Nations that the passage of a private members’ bill that aims to legalise assisted suicide breaches the UN disability convention. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/two-terminal...

Jeff Bridges says he contracted COVID while receiving chemo. @tinu.bsky.social fought tirelessly for masks in healthcare. She had long covid & cancer and HCWs refused to mask for her. We must do better. People are dying & becoming disabled because HCWs prioritize comfort over infection control

There is an appetite in this country for policy that will change lives. What is more fundamental than the water we use and bills we pay?

Today, alongside DPAC, Scope and Rethink Mental Illness, we gave evidence at a Work and Pensions Select Committee on the impact of the proposed Green Paper cuts. We were unequivocal: these cuts will lead to more deaths. Watch clips of our evidence below šŸ‘‡ youtu.be/wVW3Oud3zm0

ā€œEugenics isn’t just about eradicating the lesser people like myself, like people with disabilities, it’s about attaching disability to marginalized communities in order to slate them for eradication.ā€ Fantastic crash course in eugenics, ableism & anti-blackness from @imanibarbarin.bsky.social

If you live in England and have local elections today, please go out and VOTE against the far-right parties: *including* Labour. They need to know that hate and division will lose them seats.

Labour MPs speak up against the govt for treating vulnerable people as criminals. Govt to 24/7 snoop on the bank accounts of all benefit claimants. Take money without court order, no right of appeal. The same won't apply to tax dodgers, money launderers, scammers, other recipients of public money.

Just watch. šŸ˜ž Every day I am sickened that our government supports this.

"The amount the government is seeking to cut from the benefits bill is colossal: £4.5bn every year by 2029/30. To put this in context, the government currently spends £48bn on health-related benefits, so this is a cut of just under 10%."

This is not the first time in British government has been held to this level of scrutiny. David Cameron, Theresa May & Boris Johnson were. They responded by saying these reports were untrue and there was never any follow-up by the media to learn if this was correct or not, they just accepted it.

Someone on Threads noticed you can type any random sentence into Google, then add ā€œmeaningā€ afterwards, and you’ll get an AI explanation of a famous idiom or phrase you just made up. Here is mine

ā€˜Incarcerating prisoners serving abolished indefinite jail terms described as ā€œpsychological tortureā€ cost British taxpayers Ā£145m last year’ When is the government going to end the cruel & monumental injustice of the #IPPscandal? Why the delay? www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crim...
