The book!! The ending! Not what happened, you knew whose body would be in the well halfway through & that the nicest people would be (mostly) ok. But pp 374/375! Of course that’s what it was all about, but to state it that explicitly- in this week of all weeks! #theheavenandearthgrocerystore

The end of #aholidayathome like any holiday-back to the fray-Pilates first. It’s been good, yesterday-finishing off things-while sitting in the sun with a cat. Hem of a skirt-a book (3rd this week) music (70s folk rock) casting on a sock & cooking supper, but the book!! That needs a separate post

Reviewing posts from days #5&6 maybe I overestimate the effect of #homecooking on my waistline #win

Almost nothing to report for day#6 of #aholidayathome permission to be (nearly) idle - tried on the skirt I made on day#5 waist too big! (why do I sew without trying on?) fixed that. Examined holes in four pairs of #handknitsocks mended one pair chucked the rest. Cooked, watched TV

Day #5 Relaxed and experiencing a feeling of achievement, Things Have Got Done this week (sewing, reading and cooking* today) I’m thinking that I might take #aholidayathome every six weeks or so * not so good for the waistline

“I have spent many hours with those cats, and still I am amazed at how perfectly they reject everything it means to be in prison”. Every day is #Caturday prisonjournalismproject.org/2024/10/23/c...

Thursday, clear bright & chilly. A perfect day out to Hughendon Manor (NT) followed by lunch and browsing dresses at John Lewis #knittersofbluesky will like to know I’m wearing all the knitwear -Uma top, Shifty cowl, mittens, and (of course) my new socks- my mussleborough hat in bag! #aholidayathome

Day#3’s FO Proof having #aholidayathome can be productive #handknitting #blueskyknitters

day#3 #aholidayathome Getting Things Done. 1. emails - it’s ‘work’ but part of not having stuff hanging over me 2 completed 2024 photo book - ever a huge task but harder with new Mac (a new path to upload-why???) 3 finished socks, wearing today

In my small bathroom, about to jump (clamber!) into bath when I miss treading on a newt by an inch. Fascinated to see it but how did it get in? Re-homed it after time spent Googling sites on newt welfare. By then bath was tepid.

The stillness of a clear winter sky and a cold night. I’m giddy with looking up at the stars.

Loganberry jam made, 80 pages into The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store read, a film (September 5) and pizza. Making the best of #aholidayathome

Lots of my least favourite jobs done this morning, clearing the decks for more interesting things. Finished reading House of the Gentry (Turgenev) and begun The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store #aholidayathome

#2 last week screen time av 5.5 hrs per day. Aiming to halve that #aholidayathome

Wanted a break then thought-weather-cost-comfort & decided on #aholidayathome cancelled all usual activities, Pilates, craft groups, apols for meetings… wrote to do list -sort photos, sew skirt, see film, eat out, visit cute little town, less doom scrolling. Watch my progress on here

I am right in thinking everyone wants to Rejoin the EU aren't I? Like if you do RP if you really do

So here’s the update. The billionaire owner of the Guardian preparing to get rid of a core part of the news org + 100 journalists. If you’re a Guardian or Observer reader, please share this. The need for a strong, free & independent press couldn’t be greater. Yet, here it is.

Don’t! Just don’t please.! Keep the independence of the Guardian, it’s all we have left of a free press

Sometimes it’s the buttons that inspire the #knitting

Loved our visit to @farnhammaltingscraft today for the Art in Clay event. My favourite pieces, the beautiful stacking boxes from @annemariesjacobs and gorgeous bowls from @nicola_martin_ceramics_

I’m not going to leave X just yet - I hate that sense of being driven away from a place I used to love. But after one day on here, I already know how much prefer it. So if you see this and would be kind enough to share it to let people find me, that would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Lazy Saturday (well every day for him really)
