Good God, what is the matter with the Labour Party? BBC News - Trump right to engage Putin on peace talks, says minister www.bbc.com/news/article...

Hate those tired old tropes about men with small penises, but from buying a fancy car company to attempted rocket launches, fondling Milei's massive chainsaw and now this alphorn microaggression you have to wonder...

Absolutely. All utilities and national infrastructure should be nationalised.

French MPs have voted to introduce a 2% wealth tax on everybody 'worth' over €100m. When you put it like that, it hardly sounds extortionate.

I don't know how anybody can simultaneously defend charitable status for top public schools and oppose free breakfasts for poor kids. But rightwing Twitter somehow manages to pull that one off.

✍️ Do we really need growth (and if so, of what)? Labour’s growth obsession ignores a key truth: we’ve already ‘arrived’ – instead of chasing more, it’s time to share prosperity fairly By Peter Wrigley

Fair comment here. Carbon capture is an utter waste of time and money, a cynical ploy by the fossil fuel industry to divert funds, delay meaningful action and distract the public! #CarbonCaptureIsACon

Increasing your Water Bills 44% ABOVE inflation in the next 5 years isn't enough for the Water Companies, they have appealed to Ofwat to let them increase them up to 83% ABOVE inflation. Like if they can get stuffed. RT if we should nationalise the lot.

This! 👇

The French National Assembly has again overwhelmingly voted for a tax on billionaires, with even sceptical MPs from centrist parties acknowledging the need to capture wealth in taxation. Wealth among the very richest is soaring worldwide – we desperately need action.

We need our brave Pope back and saying the things he's not afraid to say. Please God, the world can't take any more evil. 🙏

The Tories had already made it unrecognisable when they let us take it back off them in the summer. We're not going to let them have it again. Hopefully Labour will try to mend it before long. Restore our place in Europe would be a start, and bring back trade union rights and freedoms.

The government is looking at another benefit crackdown when it should, instead, be looking at corporate fraud and its own failure to pay all the benefits owing to people. Why has it got its focus so wrong? Does it just hate people on benefits? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/02...

Has Farage sacked Tice??

No. It's a nail in the coffin of the hunting of wild animals for 'sport'. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/02...

Surely no government should ever be running a surplus? They're taking money out of the system. It's a recipe for recession. Why are they saying it should be doing more of this? 🙄😭 BBC News - Government finances in surplus but pressure builds on Reeves - BBC News www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

'The possible implications for Ukrainians are unimaginable. The consequences of a Russian victory would be disastrous, too, for democracy, justice and the climate.'

Who knew that electing a criminal who dances to the tune of foreign agents would be a bad idea? 🤪

The US has betrayed Europe, Trump’s goal is the neo-Nazification of Germany, which ties in with the Russification of Ukraine. Thread

No university should introduce redundancy schemes without full disclosure about their underlying financial problems. "This scheme is one of a number of measures to help secure long-term financial sustainability" isn't enough. Scrutiny should be welcomed, not feared. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

After becoming the 2nd FRS to quit over Elon Musk, @andrewmillar.bsky.social explains why Musk's actions "are not compatible with the conduct required of a fellow...they undermine the purpose of the Royal Society" The @royalsociety.org has called fellows to a 3rd March meeting as the crisis grows

Controversy over whether the Royal Society should expel Elon Musk has forced the world’s oldest scientific academy to “consider what it stands for”, according to an ex-fellow, as its president summoned a meeting to resolve the issue. www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-c...

Let's have more people who don't teach but just dictate rules and suck money and energy out of the few remaining institutions with enough staff and resources to do some teaching. Great idea.

In both Russia and Israel, Trump wants to keep the aggressor in power and remove the right of the victims trying to defend their homes and their freedom, and topple their leaders. The other way round would be more helpful.

UK MP says US is now “least reliable NATO partner”. And not just any MP - Gethins is an ex-Prof in International Relations.
