January 2025 study on trans women in sports

Transgender Military Heroes

Excellent overview of how and why the Supreme Court's trans healthcare case could impact sex discrimination and gender inequality writ large. "Tennessee’s argument would call into question the longstanding freedom we all enjoy to live our lives as we wish, regardless of sex."

It's the first federal statute targeting LGBTQ people since the 1990s, when Congress adopted “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” — also part of an NDAA agreement — and the Defense of Marriage Act. It passed a w/ bipartisan support, including through a Democrat-controlled Senate.

I’m so proud to have spoken at @markey.senate.gov’s press conference calling to protect military trans kids. Watch the whole conference here: www.youtube.com/live/HLF1Fyk...

Way back in September, 162 House Dems signed a letter denouncing NDAA provisions that target LGBTQ troops and dependents. 50 of them voted today to pass an NDAA banning TRICARE, the military's health program, from covering some gender-affirming care for transgender children of service members:

We can't sit by while dangerous, bigoted language is passed in the NDAA. This would be the first anti-LGBTQ+ statute enacted by Congress since the 1990s. Unacceptable. I'm fighting to remove this language from the NDAA and urge my colleagues to do the same. (Part 1 of 2)

🚨 CALL TO ACTION The Senate is set to pass the first federal Anti-LGBTQ+ provision since the 1990s!! Call your Senators NOW and tell them: - Vote NO on cloture of the NDAA tonight - Vote NO on the NDAA

NEW: Defense bill banning trans care for minors could put some families in ‘survival mode’ Thank you to the two Air Force families who spoke to me for this. For @nbcnews.com: www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-...

House Republicans have tucked a provision into a must-pass defense authorization bill that would strip health care from military families' trans kids. www.huffpost.com/entry/republ...

The final negotiated NDAA text is out — it would prevent Tricare, the military’s health program, from covering gender-affirming medical care for minors. docs.house.gov/billsthiswee...

NEWS: House Republicans have added a provision into the NDAA that would strip necessary health care from the trans kids of service members. These decisions belong with doctors, parents, and nobody else. Last year, they tried to add 50+ anti-LGBTQ+ riders and were defeated. More:

Investigations into youth and adult trans care… This would be fulfilling a promise Trump made last year: “at any age.”

The Supreme Court case tomorrow is fundamentally not about gender affirming care, it's about whether or not trans people have any protections under the 14th amendment. A loss in this case would greenlight a torrent of explicitly discriminatory legislation without much, if any judicial recourse.

Nearly half of US states grant law enforcement access to testosterone prescription data within Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) without warrant or subpoena. https://ja.ma/4eVwQvk

For those yet unconvinced. Why is it that the NYT ALWAYS makes "reporting mistakes" that break in favor of the transphobe argument? Not once have they done an "oopsie" with the facts that was more favorable to trans people. Not just in sports but in their reporting about healthcare too.

Remarkable how, in 2024, when sports have been drenched in quantitative analysis for years, the NYTimes manages to write a story about a player who supposedly has an unfair advantage without mentioning *any* stats in it, just the uncritical repetition of subjective claims from hostile people.

I am seeing more and more opinions bubbling up about how throwing trans people to the wolves would be a winning strategy for Democrats, and I just want to quickly say: Fuck off with that absolute dog shit.
