PC (USA) and UCC churches are also for the most part affirming. They tend to have a more traditional worship style, though some have contemporary services. But if you were Baptist or Non-denominational, those denominations have a closer polity, because local churches make their decisions.

I don't think he's smart enough to actually be a spy. I'm sure the spies liked hanging out with him because he just yammers on and on.

Oh, I can't believe I didn't recognize that as Elon.

Who is that in the picture and what is the occasion?

The only article that any newspaper should be writing about the potential annexation of Canada is "Annexing Canada would be a war crime on the scale of Hitler invading Poland, which would be the duty of every American to resist"

How thoughtful to give everyone a day off to organize mass protests.

I have a big bin ( an old cat litter container,) that I line with a plastic bag and dump them into that's emptied every week.

For some reason, I can also see these words being uttered by someone before the Gestapo carries them off.

Unfortunately given the views of Henry Ford and the history of Mercedes and Volkswagen, it's probably harder not to buy cars from Nazis.

This of course is because he thinks he's immortal and keeps talking about a third term. He said it might take 25 years to decide who would be in his statue garden and implied he would be the one making such decisions.

Isn't Vermuele a post liberal thinker who doesn't even believe that a liberal democracy is possible because it isn't rooted in his idea of God?

The staffer at my congressional rep's office told me that DOGE only had the ability to read stuff, not change any of it and then blamed the New York Times for sensationalistic journalism.

The problem is we just had a coup and they control the military.

I swear I saw this happen in a movie.

I seem to recall a West Wing episode about timing bad news for Friday afternoon so as to make it receive the least attention.

Inside you there are two wolves fighting for control. Sometimes they make up and snuggle.

I usually have an idea. Often it's them chasing each other.

That is only because federal housing laws forbid discriminating against familial status which includes children. If they could, they would.

I haven't been a Southern Baptist since 1998. 😂 I didn't realize how rare my childhood Baptist church was until I went to Oklahoma Baptist University. I almost lost my faith in a class called Introduction to Missions. I returned to the faith when I moved to Boston and joined a UCC church.

I haven't yet studied Hauerwas in depth, but he showed up in a couple of readings at my seminary. But I would find it hard to believe that there wouldn't at least be some professors on a seminary faculty that would think our wars were wrong.

Aly, Hauerwas is a respected enough theologian that giving someone a bad grade because they disagree with him seems extremely odd.

I'm just trying to imagine going to a seminary where a professor would be so hostile towards making a point with which they disagreed. If I picked a person who was less than one of my professor's favorites, I could see comments encouraging more viewpoints. But this seems... weirdly hostile.

Don't they live in Scotland? I mean I would love to visit Scotland, but that's a long trip. I live in Texas.

I've been thinking we need a mercy march where all the churches that believe in mercy show up across the country to testify that her plea for mercy is in fact representative of Christianity.

Then, why is making it a dystopian hellscape in which more will say, "I don't want to bring a child into this world?"

Just tried and it says, "this app isn't available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android." That seems fishy.

I don't care what ad you play. If it doesn't have cats in it, I'm using the time to doom scroll on my phone.

A passenger selected at random off a late night bus in the bad part of town would be a better president than Trump.
