3- Seeing Aurora in Portland often requires substorms, which means lots of waiting. My couch is comfortable in downtime (lazy). 4- I like having the same subject (neighbor’s tree), and seeing how the aurora looks different in different conditions/storms.

Why do I stay in my backyard, instead of heading out to darker spaces? 1- I’m not comfortable going to remote spots by myself in the middle of the night. 2- I like to prove you can see aurora in light pollution, when the right conditions exist.
