I had someone I'd have otherwise described as a fellow member of the reality based community get mad at me for using the term once. He claimed it was looking down on religious people. I said it was a term thrown in my face by an enemy; they didn't want it and now it was mine.

A moniker I bear with pride.

The existence of a "New" MAD-rid, implies the existence of a previous or "old" MAD-rid. I wonder where it was.

Yeah, I was going to say New Madrid fault too, but maybe that means it is too well known? But anything big enough to make the Mississippi run backwards and create a new lake qualifies as "big" I think.

Done!

Best of luck convincing your fellow Christians of that and I say that with all sincerity. Nobody hopes for your victory more than I do.

Nah these guys are as white as it gets and 100% home-grown and 100% Christian (obviously.)

Hi! As a fellow filker, I have followed you; hope that's okay!

I think that is why they are doing it.

You voted for the SAVE act because you want to make it harder for women to vote. You realize some women don't change their names when they marry but you'll sandbag as many of us as you can get.

Of course they won't, because then it would quickly be revealed that they are lying.

Good; well done! It's great that you're getting started opposing this assault on the Constitution, and I hope to see a lot more opposition from you in the very near future!

You had me at "losing this judge race" you don't need to sell me on it.

Wow! Congratulations!

I am sorry that he needs to do this but I agree that it is necessary. The fascists have turned on science and are gutting the CDC and the NIH. Hopefully a lot of scientists will be able to escape also.

He's in DC, right? So really it's only about an hour and 5 minutes!

Thank you!

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I am sad for this loss. I will miss Patricia at FilkOntario next week. Thank you for recognizing her as part of our community.

It's an interesting change of their Pravda, that suggests they are losing support among _voters they actually care about_ over the number of people whose jobs they have destroyed. It would be interesting to reach out to that sector of their support and see if we can wean it back to reality.

You'd think they'd hear the bulldozer and wake up. I mean, that's not really a stealth type operation? Maybe if someone has so much land the boulder is really far from the house, or maybe they go for boulders whose humans are on vacation?

Hurray for youtube videos; this would have been much harder without watching that friendly person with the Indian accent walking the viewer calmly through the process.

What it _doesn't _do is remember the house WiFi password, which is annoying because the house password is long and has to be entered on the printer solely with up and down arrows. But oh well nothing is perfect, and quick connection at OVFF is more important.

He should not have power over a goldfish, much less a human being, but he should not be hanged; I don't believe in the death penalty. And he CERTAINLY should not be hanged without a trial; some people are monsters but we don't have to be!

Trump destroyed the Obama economy and now he's destroying the Biden economy and everybody who has been paying the slightest bit of attention saw this coming from election night last year. A president can't necessarily save an economy, but with tariffs and layoffs he can certainly wreck one.

I read every one of those books multiple times and Murderbot considers itself an "it." Not "she," not "he," but "it." I seem to recall some members of the Preservation team having some trouble with this, but it was very definite about it.

Yeah, I would check out FilkCast. I mean I can suggest filk artists--Mary Crowell, Three Weird Sisters, Kari Maaren, The Faithful Sidekicks, Heather Dale, Alexander Adams, but there are so many... FilkCast is a good place to try a lot of them for free and figure out which ones you like.

I have 2 new bowing patterns to practice with it. I am pretty sure I can make this work.

So... a bribe. Can we say "bribe"? But realistically, of course Republicans take bribes--I mean, Republican Supreme Court Judges take bribes, so why wouldn't Republican Vice Presidents?

There is no doubt it is a rather startling lurch toward transparency on the part of an administration that has been remarkably secretive in the past.

I had this same experience except it was American cheese--it took me YEARS to figure out that Cheddar looked exactly the same but was delicious. Until I was about twelve I thought all cheese tasted like spoiled milk.

So in other words it won't be a human rights report anymore.

I think they were emboldened by the corrupt 2/3 of the Supreme Court giving Dirty Donald immunity for crimes committed while president, myself.

I think it is obviously a pretext to go after an openly queer person, yes.

Yes that is absolutely what it looks like to me also.

I don't go, and when they demand to know why I tell them. If they're going to marry a Nazi, they better get used to people refusing to associate with their spouse.

I read the NPR piece on this with great pleasure.
