Feeling uplifted today. Just planted my first ever grafted apple tree. On my family smallholding, there's an old cooking apple tree planted by my great grandparents. Looks like "Yellow transparent," early to ripen, cooks to a soft puree. Grafted 2 years ago. First ever attempt,8/10 survived. Yay! 🌱

Hellebore Madame Lemonier is pointing me towards Spring today. Holds her head up well so you can see the flowers without lying down. 🌱

Off to a friend's house later to help them drink a firkin of the superlative Brandeston Gold ale (Earl Soham brewery local to us in Suffolk UK). Potted up G. Plicatus Augustus as a thank you gift. Way better than wine or choccies imo. Augustus spreads quickly, easy to grow too. 🌱

Tim runs a really fantastic plant nursery near Diss in Norfolk. He's really knowledgeable and his flowers are fab. Please do follow if you love 🌱

Galanthus Chantry Taffeta is well named. I'm admiring it's crinkled taffeta like petals today. 🌱

Our honey bees are out today collecting Cobnut pollen. If this was a video, you'd hear them buzzing. 🌱

Galanthus Galatea giving me joy today. A good doer in my garden which I will be dividing and spreading this season. 🌱

June feels a long way away today. Can't wait for this view from my garden to shine again. 🌱

The only good thing to come from the deer scything is that I get to see Galanthus Grumpy's well-named, cute little face. 🌱

Annual Snowdrop audit this afternoon. Checked all labels, relabelled where needed and checked all against the master plan. Lapwing and Heffalump currently missing.😪 Always cheered by the classic Trumps which is now spread around the garden. 🌱

Returned home after a week in the mountains. Furious to find adeer have been scything the flowers off some snowdrops. This is Galanthus Grumpy cut down in his prime. However, Longdrop is untouched and looking lovely.

In a happy place but no gardening in winter so couldn't live here.

Delighted to visit a snowdrop fair today. My small haul includes Midas which I've coveted for a while. Good price too. Hall was packed. There are a lot of Galanthophiles in Suffolk UK. 🌱

Mrs Macnamara is truly flying today. Providing welcome early pollen for our honeybees who are also out. Mrs Mac is purportedly named after Dylan Thomas's mother in law but I'm not sure that's true. 🌱

This frosty way through the woods is on the Angles Way long distance path in Suffolk UK. It leads to Redgrave and Lopham Fen, home to the famous and rare water based Raft Spider. A real beauty.🌱

Winter apple pruning time in frosty Suffolk, UK. Always a pleasure with my trusty Niwaki's. Kendo Nagacatty was keen to assist.🌱

A beautiful crispy day in Suffolk, UK. Spotted this frost coated wild sown Woolly Mullein in the grass garden. It'll make a great meal for Mullein moth in the Summer.🌱

This Mahonia is flowering in the garden. A top Winter food source for bees. Scent is good too, so worth squeezing one in if you can. If you choose several different ones, then you can extend the flowering time until Spring. Too cold for our honey bees to enjoy today. 🌱

Kendo Nagacatty has come out on Christmas Eve to supervise the great path leaf rake up. Uncovered an unseasonably early Primrose. 🌱
