Elon doesn't seem to understand how the federal government works.

Are you bored tonight? Send your five accomplishments, maybe your shopping list, or your five thoughts on Elon from the past week to OPM at [email protected].

"Immigrants didn't steal my job. The president did."

"So is OPM providing a project/charge number to respond to that email? No? Oh, well I'm sorry that we can't work on unfunded projects for other agencies at this time"

www.cbsnews.com/news/economi...

Count me in.

NEW: Federal government employees are sending me ideas for how to respond to Musk's OPM "Five Bullets" email. My latest: #Emails2DOGE www.muellershewrote.com/p/federal-wo...

My $5,000 DOGE check will be immediately donated in full to help federal workers pay for their lawsuits against DOGE.

Another sharp intake of breath from the Washington Post. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Not very transparent www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

WaPo Page One: “If you’re going to just yell at me, that’s not going to be an effective town hall,” McCormick said .. “But we’re pissed!” a woman shouted. #GA07 www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Sunday reading: A MAGA Feeding Frenzy Is Ravaging the Constitutional Order The assault is coming from different angles: Project 2025. The feudal tech barons. The America First nativists. Less a single master plan – and more comprehensive chaos. This week’s piece:

It'd be awesome if @whitehouse.senate.gov asked Attorney General Bondi if she has issued some kind of finding that foreign donations are cool now, so long as they're covered up nicely. www.emptywheel.net/2025/02/22/p...

1/ "The Trump administration has blocked key parts of the federal government’s apparatus for funding biomedical research, effectively halting progress on much of the country’s future work on illnesses like cancer and addiction despite a federal judge’s order to release grant money."

When these inaccuracies were first found, they could be called "mistakes." When DOGE took efforts to cover them up, they can no longer be considered "mistakes."

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

In every single interview I’ve done with international media since Trump took power I’ve been asked: Why are there no mass protests? There are many reasons, of course, but the utter refusal of the self-proclaimed “fourth estate” to communicate clearly what is happening has to be high on the list.

No matter how preposterous, the Times headlines nearly every Trump story as if it were written by the White House comms team.

Here’s what is going on. When you start firing the military’s top lawyers, that means you are getting ready to order the military to do unlawful things. Trump replaces those JAGs with men who will justify any future unlawful and unethical actions that he wants the military to do.

It’s nonsense—but deliberately. The terms are vague and meaningless so they can ban ANYTHING if they want to.

It would be far less time-consuming to just document when he tells the truth. shorturl.at/tohgb

Worst. Episode. EVER.

Imagine being too far-right and Nazi-like for the French far-right: "French far-right leader cancels US speech after ex Trump aide Bannon appeared to make 'Nazi gesture'"

This would be completely illegal. But you wouldn’t know that from reading this post, the headline, or the lede. Unbelievably bad.

"We [the Executive Branch] *are* the federal law" is a dark horse candidate for most Hitlerian Trump quote from 2025. Surprised this did not get even more media coverage and provoke even more outrage. The literal, actual truth, of course, is that the federal government has three co-equal branches.

Um. “The I-Team also reached out Thursday afternoon to the alleged victim, who we’re not naming, but who is not the congressman’s wife.”

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SUES THE WHITE HOUSE to stop punishing the news agency, its clients and readers for not calling the Gulf of Mexico by the name President Trump wants // Jeremy Barr reports www.washingtonpost.com/style/media/...

Extortion, pure and simple.

This was published last October www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

It’s imperative at this point that Europe develop a defense posture independent of the United States, which should be treated as the ally of Russia that it has now become.

So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

If any of our former NATO or Five Eyes allies have intelligence data and assessments, which surely they must, about the background of the leader of their new strategic adversary, the United States, now is as good a time as any to release them, subject to protection of methods and sources, of course.

For a bunch of different reasons, I think I need to hire someone to doom-scroll for me.

Now why do you think it is that DOJ dismissed charges against SpaceX WITH prejudice but Emil Bove plans to hold charges over Eric Adams' head for almost four more years? www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/u...

Yo DOGE, Found your waste! 👇🏼

So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

Last I checked there was a federal criminal statute on extortion that’s enforced by the United States Department of Jus— … oh wait, never mind

Extraordinary story the Wall Street Journal. X is threatening advertisers that if they don’t spend more, Elon Musk will use his influence in government to block company mergers. That’s extortion.

Pam Bondi makes several false claims here. There's no reason to believe Biden's security clearance ever lapsed. Trump's demonstrably did.

"Mr. Trump’s pattern of repeating what Mr. Putin says and being steered toward policy decisions by foreign strongmen has caused grave worry in both Europe and Ukraine" www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/w...

Ok that made me laugh

Reading also hard

Just discovered that Don Bacon posted this last Friday.

I am one of more than 750 political scientists who signed this statement "express[ing] our urgent concern about threats to the basic design of American government and democracy" drive.google.com/file/d/1lGk2...

And fully half of it is a humiliating error where they mistake the value of a contract by 1000x confusing 8 million with 8 BILLION
