The best (marishino?) cherry defence ever. 😂

I'm glad I saw your reply before I quoted this post with a different movie. There is only 1 correct answer to this post, and you got it.

I write for me I write for you But mostly because I just have to Yet when I look back, though it's not why I began, my writing shows me who I truly am

@achronicvoice.com, you are still with us! 🥲 (Literally, right now.)

Oh dear. I plead hereditary insanity. Assigning thoughtful meaning to words and using them authoritatively when everyone else has a different (inferior) understanding, and generally creating a lot of confusion, runs in my family!

I didn't even know the word - so that was fun! I should add that it's an unauthorized definition and the note is entirely my own observation, so use them at your own risk!

OK. What does mañana mean in this context?

Etymology is from Greek "epi" for, and "hemera" day, meaning "lasting for but a day." Note that while mayflies seem like ephemera to humans, humans may seem like ephemera to glaciers. Also, the meaning now includes "of low value" perhaps due to the current supremacy of Utilitarian Ethics.

Plural form of things that are transient or have short-lived utility with respect to the observer. The genus name of some life forms in the order Ephemeroptera, such as Ephemera danica, commonly known as the mayfly.

Thank you for the reply, and repost! 🥰

I know. That’s not possible yet for humans. Think I’ll leave the species – it’s in ruins. How about, I become a sprite! They can’t be hurt by anything. Right? 2/2

The intro alone is gold. And the poem follows suit. Thank-you, Sir.

Hey! I saw your handle listed on Mizz W's post and thought: well I for sure want to check HER out! Fun that you were checking me out too. ☺️

Ew. No further introduction needed. He's not the right kind of funny, his type isn't even strange enough, unfortunately. They are bad surprises. I think you are too generous to refer to it as a man. Sadly, I suspect the animated shell is all that's left now.

You accepted the challenge! Thank you!! (Although my idea to help me remember to get groceries this morning is back-firing by engaging with such great distraction.) Who is this weird orange man that speaks of groceries, and can you introduce us?
comment in response to post
New challenge? Define "grocery". And if you need help slaying that syndrome, there's always The Grammar League.

Oh fun! I thought maybe you worked for a dictionary.

You are so funny! And yes, the support I have is...amazing. (She said between giggles.) Not without flaws, but compared to most, it's incredible.

I literally have a etymonline tab open on my phone from last week! Well met challenge! That was a sick definition!! (See what I did there! 😜)

I have a great Sleep Specialist, and can flex my stay-awake medication (and coffee!) to help when it's not too bad. But I'm kinda off the charts bad, so I can't fully commit to anything. Fortunately for me, I adore home making, which is pretty flexible! And my husband is 1000% accepting. 10,000%.

You come across as curious and empathetic, which I appreciate. And don't worry, I will tell you if I don't want to share something. It's usually more like waves, but there's a lot of unpredictability with and within the waves.

But...I've started looking at it through a PTSD lens, so we'll see if that helps. It's hope, at least. Which is really the most important thing.

Not exactly. The seasonal change effects my mood a bit, and if my IH isn't too bad, like now, wake me up too early which then effects my day. But the IH itself is its own beast, and all other influences pale in comparison.

I have a "waxing and waning" subtype, so can have relatively normal periods and then weeks when I'm basically confined to bed. The fun part is in the not knowing what any given day will be like! Swearing just doesn't go far enough for that.

I'm somewhat familiar with the condition, but haven't heard the term "malsomnia" before. I actually have Idiopathic Hypersomnia, which is where you sleep for 14 hours, but feel and function as if you haven't slept at all. We don't swear as much, because we are too tired, just think our curses.
comment in response to post
Oh man, that just captures it so well! 😂

I'm sorry to hear you were awake in the middle of the night! Were you attacked by a moonbeam? In case of future occurrences, just do not move towards the light! Including screen-beams. No need to reply - that's taking politeness to ridiculous extremes.
comment in response to post
Challenge: Define the word "definition", citing relevant sources of course! (But not past 23:00 your local time. Wouldn't want to take geeking out to ridiculous extremes! It deserves more respect than that. And will always be there for you.)
comment in response to post
You had me at etymology...
comment in response to post
Well now you've gone and backflipped into two of my favourite areas: definitions, and, by talking about how you define a definition, into meta-analysis. I have so much to do, but how can I resist that?
comment in response to post
That is only PART of ONE definition of insanity. Although, depending on who's doing the defining, insanity can be a great label!
comment in response to post
Well I can't understand it! You tried it! More than once, even! That alone is impressive, and, as usual, anyone who disagrees with me is a ding-bat!

That was maaaybe 10 years ago?😉 Although "Joyride" was the main reason I parted with my babysitting earnings on an album (cassette tape, yes, thank-you) for the first time.
