I know you won’t see this but I feel like you really need to expand your horizons and realize art isn’t something that has winners and losers. It’s just expression all of it is valid and valuable.
I want you to know that I’m genuinely trying to convey something here. Either way, have a good one.

Okay fine, Bowie, Sinatra, Kendrick, MJ, Freddie Mercury, Pac, I could literally go on and on.
Through your veneration of one artist you disrespect others who might not AS popular as her.
Just because I have a different view point it doesn’t me I’m doing it just to play devils advocate.

What makes her “overrated” is what you’ve been doing here and what the OPs thread contains. Endless rejection of the idea that Beyoncé isn’t the best of all time. Even in the face of the reality that people like me don’t really like her music that much.
It’s that weird defensiveness.

Is what she does impressive? Sure. But does that mean she’s the god of music. No. I don’t think she’s as good as Bowie and she doesn’t even touch MJ but that’s just to my tastes. I could pull up the metrics about Jackson and say “look look number bigger” but if you like her it makes no difference.

And yes I would say there are hundreds of artist are “on the level” of Beyoncé in therms of artistic output that just don’t get the attention they deserve.
The problem that I have is this dichotomy that her fans put up that she is the best and she has no equal but that’s simply not how art works.

You missed the “contemporary” qualifier. But this all sounds like weird hero worship to me. She’s just a musician, she’s a good one, but the way people talk about her makes it very difficult to say shes not “overrated” just going by the height of the pedestal people put her on.

How are we measuring this “level”? Because going on raw numbers there are definitely a few names that pop into my head. But as far as contemporary artist go, Swift as a few million sales over her.
There’s no accounting for taste but taste isn’t a metric that can be construed as “factual”.

People functionally worship her, i think its fair to say that's to much for any artist. Unless you think thats reasonable in which case i dont know what to tell you.
