One of a kind. I’ll never forget the first time I watched “Eraserhead” and felt the true power of his surrealist, dark style. His turn as John Ford in Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” felt like a fitting farewell to a giant - the scene below is just fantastic. Rest in peace, David - and thank you.

Back when Harry Dean Stanton was dying, I talked with Lynch about his friend. While HDS was blasé about death, Lynch seemed momentarily unnerved by his friend's lack of beliefs. He wanted HDS to believe in an afterlife. He didn't want all this to end. I choose to believe, too. Unbearable not to.
