These linocut bookmarks are ready for my spring markets! Up next is 'Lines on the Pines', an artisan market and festival celebrating the NJ Pine Barrens. Lines on the Pines: Sunday March 9, 11-4 PM Stockton University Campus Center. 🐡🕷️🪲🦋🌱

Oh! I also finished the first hexagon from the Wonders of the James Webb Space Telescope cross stitch pattern! Pillars of creation!!

Plein air ski painting! Took a break from a nice ski day to quickly sketch this out. :)

“Cuts at NOAA/NWS are spectacularly short-sighted and ultimately will deal a major self-inflicted wound to the public safety of Americans and the resiliency of the American economy to weather and climate-related disasters” www.independent.co.uk/news/science...

Open this image up fully. Look to the top right. That's Phobos, one of the moons of Mars. And that bright point of light? Earth.

Did you know NASA’s newest space telescope is launching THIS WEEKEND??? Let’s learn about SPHEREx… 🔭🧪 (1/n)

Just so we all understand, the point to this is to privatize weather forecasting. You'll have to pay for weather forecasts. Private companies like starlink will own the weather satellites. There will be no long-term research on improving forecasts

How about some science and engineering art? I created this piece of Europa Clipper in the vacuum chamber was for a 6"x6" community show. Painted in acrylic gouache.

I did compare my students to a cookie clicker upgrade last week and i stand by that.

Having undergraduate workers is great. Once you get them up to speed, they basically work autonomously and then come back every n weeks with new completed stuff that I now don't have to do. Plus they're learning a lot! It's a win-win!

IMAP had a science team meeting this past week... It's amazing what you can accomplish when you put the engineers (me) right next to the experts (scientists) but wow it was exhausting!

Flyby success! Solar Orbiter swept past Venus last night, using the planet's gravity to adjust its orbit and grant it a new view of the Sun's polar regions. Everything went as planned 🕹️🛰️✅

I was recognized at the IMAP team meeting by someone because of my AGU stickers 😂 whatever works to get some visibility I guess!

I'm reviewing applications for an REU and one of the students said she watched crash course videos when her high school didn't offer a physics class ... And I just loved that.

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! You can try to silence or erase us, but we aren’t going anywhere. We will keep fighting and being awesome 😤

Did some #plienair painting today!

Cherry Blossoms 🌸 Hoping to capture the fine details of this famous flowering tree. It took me 300+ hrs to pain this one using a size 3 & 0 brush. ~watercolor ~sold | prints a available #watercolor #art #painting #artist #artwork

Kept this one quick and messy! It was fun :) #watercolorlandscape

Feeling bummed so I did some art. Now I feel a little better.

Hi new people! Please check out all the cool folks in my space artists starter pack! go.bsky.app/T9Xcq1M

A river delicately snaking in the Icelandic Highlands, fed by the last snow melting… That little spot light really caught my eye so I had to capture it. Captured from a bush plane. #bluesky #photography #scapes #landscape #aerial #art #nature

i went to the store to buy frames and ran into a couple in the paint aisle who were trying to make some textured abstract art from an online trend. I helped them with a few questions, and overall it was a very nice interaction! I love when people try art!

I got my bike tuned up today (no more rubbing back tire, yay!) and he said "I filled in some of the scratches on your bike with sharpie too" like thank you sir, excellent service

Choices on Bluesky go beyond reactionary politics and anger farming. With the SciArt Starter Pack, get thought-provoking images from over 100 selected artists engaged in science. Plus, add the popular SciArt Feed 🐡 to your skyline. ✨And no AI images.✨ #medsky #academicsky 🧪 🎨 #illustration

First repair.... Since Hubble 🤦 I just failed to type that bit I guess... My bad haha

NASA is doing the first astronaut repair of an instrument in space today. The NICER instrument, attached to the outside of the ISS, is getting some patches to correct damage. Very cool! science.nasa.gov/missions/sta...

I love the #OpenScience shout-out on the IMAP website! (Plus the shameless IMAP SDC GitHub plug 😜) imap.princeton.edu/get-involved...

I have posted this before, but I thought it would make a good subject for Day 13 of #JanuArty2025 #tool #JanuArty illustrating tools of a delivery person's trade. Fish-market Blues - Watercolour on hot press cotton rag, 2020. #fineart #Watercolour #watercolor #art #figurative #realism #artist #DC

Space-weather sentinels, commercial lunar missions, and lots of planetary flybys are on tap this year. buff.ly/40m1ied . . #astronomy #spacemission #space #planets #stars #moon #spaceweather

Happy perihelion day! In North America, tomorrow noon will be the closest you'll get to the Sun all year. 🔭🧪

Nothing like time formats to make you sound insane. "Yes, your time is 0.001635s off from mine because MY format uses the solar system center as a reference frame while YOUR foolish time uses Earth as a center which is obviously ridiculous." Thanks relativity!

The local sandwich shop has started finishing my sentence for me when I order (grilled beef and peppers with horseradish instead of mustard and a roast beef with mustard instead of horseradish)

It's our first #FieldworkFriday of 2025, and we're celebrating with a beautiful aurora and Milky Way captured over the U.S. Science Hut in Arrival Heights in Antarctica in 2011. 📸: Zhibin Yu, a former PhD student at CIRES and CU Boulder

This ISS photo of the aurora on Jan 1 is insane!

🚨G3/STRONG geomagnetic storming is now occurring. 🚨 Europe should be out as soon as it is dark! Aurora down to mid-latitudes is possible tonight with active motion and overhead displays at times. This has been the best aurora show since the October 2024 storm. What a way to welcome in 2025!

Update on the rumored shark tank inside the biotech building: I asked a few other people who work in that building and they didn't know anything. But they did tell me there is a python (perhaps multiple pythons?) More investigation is needed.

#artvsartist2024 I explored a lot of different mediums this year and had a lot of fun!

The past year has shown the remarkable things humanity can achieve. One, accomplished just days ago, was a probe’s flight through the corona of the Sun. No other spacecraft has ventured so close to a star, nor has one ever reached such high speeds. 🧪🔭 #space #science

Number 6 on my Top 10 Paintings of 2024 I love to paint storms. I grew up in the midwest state of South Dakota and I have strong memories of watching storms just like this roll towards us across the grassy plains. APPROACHING STORM, 16x16”, Acrylic ©2024 Jim Musil 🎨 SOLD #art
