Some seriously advanced and beautiful #CryoET on our photosynthetic friends. That “empty” cytoplasm is so mysterious to me. Yo ribosomes, where U at!? #TeamTomo #PlantScience 🧪🧬🧶🔬🌾

🧪🌊🌏🔥

It's hard for people in the Global South to focus on dealing with climate change when they don't have adequate electricity, water, sanitation, and transportation infrastructure. It turns out it's also hard in the Global North to focus on climate change when there's not a functioning democracy.

I really am the luckiest PI in the world🥹. The lab has been a bit lonely and quiet this week (I’m here teaching at the @biozentrum.unibas.ch), but it’s so nice to see our awesome crew rocking the In Situ Meeting at @embl.org 🧪🧶🧬

Extremely excited to be joining the vibrant community of the Vienna BioCenter to build up cryo-ET and cryo-FIB milling on campus soon!

Cool Napari plugin from @bwmr.bsky.social's that makes it easier to select specific membranes or groups of membranes that are output from @lorenzlamm.bsky.social's MemBrain🧠🤖 program (playing with MemBrain's connected components). Nice one! #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience 🧪🧶🧬🔬

It's all gone. They've taken down all the CDC datasets from data.cdc.gov Data that's critical for public health & research. Data paid for by citizens. That the government now censors. "Do not fear those who tell the truth. Fear those who try to hide it. They are willing to sacrifice other things."

NSF Career Award supported invention of Foldscope - now reached 3 million kids globally with ~1 million kids in US - bringing joy of science to grassroots & communities with very little support. It’s brought communities working together on global problems. www.goldengooseaward.org/01awardees/f...

Super important resource! And worth raising awareness, especially given the uncertainties at the NIH (although it would still be devastating if PubMed went down)🧪

This is insane. There are lots of scientists in the US who are on “soft money”, which means that without government grants, they’re out of jobs. This is how you destroy the best research and development in the world.

Another reminder, we are soon reaching the max number of participants so now is a good time to register #volumeEM

Go Go Rubisco! Congrats Noam & The Cats on this triumphant tour de force! 🧪🧶🧬🌾🌍

Really beautiful combination of modeling with #CryoET both in vitro and in situ. Chromatin is one of the next big frontiers for #TeamTomo 🧪🧶🧬

One of the Earth's greatest treasures of biodiversity is rapidly dying, ignored by politicians, hidden beneath the waves. It's painful, but we must bear witness. Don't look away. 🧪🌏🌊🪸

WOW!😍 This is exactly the type of development we hoped the Chlamy dataset would help empower! Lots of organelles and cellular features labeled automatically, context-aware particle picking, & area-selective template matching #TeamTomo 🔬 Big props to @mgflast.bsky.social @thomsharp.bsky.social 🧪🧶🧬

Yes it's important people understand a preprint hasn't been peer-reviewed. BUT it's also important to understand that what "peer-reviewed" means varies considerably, in some cases signifying nothing... www.science.org/content/arti...

Yay @spanglab.bsky.social congrats!🙌 I'm very lucky to have you as a colleague here at the @biozentrum.bsky.social

I'm happy and humbled to take on a new role with @rcsbpdb.bsky.social. I'll be continuing David Goodsell's work on the Molecule of the Month, starting with my first article on Assembly Line Polyketide Synthases! Check it out (animation included!) pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/301

Thanks Alicia! I am also happy to have helped finalize this work. I hope computational biologists will find the repo useful. We need to share more annotations in accessible format, the algorithms are hungry 😄 #teamtomo, consider sharing your data via pull requests—let’s grow this together! 🤝
