Nobody likes to admit it, but NATO is an alliance of US vassal states.
If the US invades Greenland the shattering of the illusion of alliance will hit folks hard.
No-one will stand against them and most will yield to US demands, now made greater through lack of restraint.
Except perhaps France.

This kind of retaliation risks playing into Trump's hand. He will paint Canada as an enemy and use energy security as a justification for stronger measures.
At the end of the day don't sweat Trump's tariffs. The trade balance will always balance out, that's how it works.
