I turn 75 in a couple of months I’ve been riding the subway my whole life. Good and bad. Dangerous and safe. Filthy and sparkling. 24/7. The subway defines New Yorkers. I think you can judge a person by if they can find their way from Queens to Brooklyn on the subway.

We built a lot of that on some pretty bad choices. A lot of people died in questionable wars. A lot of people were exploited. We created a raging climate crisis with unchecked greed. So let’s not get too misty eyed.

It’s time to try democratic-socialism, and be bold about the term. Predatory capitalism is the dirty keyword, not democratic-socialism.
