I have borne witness to the impossible

This is a small, local building. Every time I see US west coasters freaking out about buildings smaller than this, it hurts my head.

“Musk's starlink satellites are raining out of orbit at a rate of 120 per month.” Each one produces “30 kilograms of aluminum oxide which eats away at the ozone layer and these oxides have increased 8 fold in the atmosphere since 2016.” #OpCanary #EndAutogenocide

Midterm slogan? Impeach a third time. Third time's a charm, right?

Let's just call it "The Bad Deal" because that's what it is.

Anyone else's first thought when they read this: "oh this is going to end up being about the x payment system, isn't it?" That is certainly the first thought I had when I read this. www.wired.com/story/doge-g...

Seems like a good time to bring back more passenger rail...

Hard to believe a shopping street this active is scheduled to be removed for more space for cars.

Charitable strangers reaching out to help eachother is a good thing. Having that be the only viable option when someone gets injured in public though speaks volumes about how a society is constructed.

@sound-transit.bsky.social Do train station staff and train drivers have access to a first aid kit? What is the normal response to somone on a train having a sudden head injury? I witnessed one yesterday and was pretty disturbed about the options that rider had.

Seems like an @theonion.com article to me...

Saikyo line (Tokyo) could really use some reliability upgrades.

Happy Road (Oyama Stn) is a popular and historied Shotengai. Currently fightIng against a 50 year old plan to tear down much of the arcade and replace it with a road for cars... for "fire safety". If you happen by Tokyo, they could really use your support and less crowded than more famous spots.

Sugamo street fair

This is close to the culmination of the worst of my fears. A federal government so hostile to transit that they not only stop funding it, but try to end it outright.

Hot take: People talk about Tokyo as a city with a complete transit system... ...but even Tokyo needs more trains and lines. Morning trains are frequently at or above capacity. Many cross town connections struggle without major out of the way detours. There is always room for improvement.

I get the frustration. I also get that unpredictable trains that have to interact with cars might be difficult to give accurate times for. I kind of wish more north american train systems would use train/bus position icons to let riders know if the vehicle is at least within 2~3 stops.

Ooyama is great. I recommend a visit.

Happy Road shopping arcade in Itabashi city, Tokyo. If you are looking to escape the tourist crowds but want the shopping arcade experience, I recommend Happy Road. With government plans in place to tear down much of the roof though (road expansion) you might want to visit soon.

The lack of imagination with this Interbay - Ballard 15th Ave road repaving is one for the history books.
