You're assuming everyone has large iCloud Drive. Don't do that. Drop Box is a liability (Ex: Deleted Rick & Morty files from the show's creator account). External drives are slower than internal drives due to how that data gets accessed and bus limitations. It's not just like native SSDs.

Common user won’t deal with Linux and I have other stuff to do than deal with package management. Linux is a blast though, but takes more time to learn.
