New — I wrote about how the 5 bullets email is nothing but an escalation of Musk and the Trump administration’s psychological war on federal workers. Read here:

I imagined how goofy the shoulders would end up looking, giggled, then immediately drew it because I needed to see it made real

Without looking, I would bet you rock solid money that The Wire online fandom HATES Jimmy McNulty.

Seems as though today is the day where things start happening at #GAMA. If you've got a game to demo or want to bend my ear around a drink, Sunday and Monday are still fairly open!

If any friends and industry peers are preparing for #GAMA travel and want to slide into my schedule for a coffee or beer, hit me up! I'm landing later this afternoon and will be around until Thursday night.

People talk shit about possums but it's badass that they're willing to die for their beliefs* *“Fuck cars I’ll walk where I want”

Watching the journalists in season five of The Wire is a surreal experience. The writers are casting the newspaper as a similarly beleaguered but noble institution as police. And by that I mean budget cuts but still a career. Feels almost quaint.

VIDEO: State of the Rascal 2025 Missed our Twitch stream yesterday? The VoD is now live, so catch up on the Rascal team recounting the past year and looking ahead to the next.

Today's un-paywalled article is me talking about the Mothership Deluxe Set, one of my favorite boxed RPG products and a joy to simply interact with.

I found some minis games to talk about for ZineMonthQuest and rounded out my list with a couple of RPGs that caught my eye too.

I spoke with trans and genderqueer developers about working in games in the US amid an anti-trans administration and harassment from online communities. Many feel left behind by the companies they work for. “Can’t piss off the bigots, because they spend money.” www.wired.com/story/game-d...

Fuck Ziff Davis, obviously, but it's so depressing to see Dicebreaker pinned to their brand masthead like a trophy carcass. Dicebreaker hasn't posted a new article since June of last year. You know, after the entire team was unceremoniously axed.

The worst long-distance days are when, like today, my spouse gets shit news, and I can't be there to comfort. Instead, I've been reading Ann Leckie short stories as they fall asleep.

I am not working today and tomorrow and I feel 1,000 pounds lighter…if you are able to take even a short break you probably should

We're now live!

Got a burning question about Rascal's first year or really anything else? Come through and ask us!

Back end of The Wire's fourth season is knocking some shit loose in me. This show has always been good, but it's landing every single blow with confidence.

Thanks Chase for letting me infodump on my favorite card game of all time! Everyone should check out Netrunner and Rascal News!

Making good on a long-held threat, @cado.bsky.social finally got their chance to go long on a truly fascinating card game.

A fascinating child game to Cyberpunk 2020 that narrows its scope to, as Pondsmith wrote, "The Children of Generation X!" It was doing the video game tutorial opening before most video games were.

Hey look, it's me!

Good choices, now in blog form

How the fuck are devs supposed to survive if making a successful, beloved live service game isn’t enough to keep them employed

Annapurna Interactive announces 'Gone Home' extraction shooter sequel in which 30 players are parachuted into Rural Oregon and attempt to collect enough Angela Carter short story collections and Kate Bush LPs to realize they're a lesbian before anyone else

If I have to ask for a raise, I'm glad that request goes to our collective readers and not some KPI-brained executive. Thank you to everyone who supports Rascal! Also, peep some of those upcoming subscriber goals 👀 More Lin, more money, and a trip to Essen Spiel??

If you're a free Rascal reader (thank you!) who wondered what you were missing by not subscribing, now's your best chance to check out our best work from Year One! Consider this an anniversary gift lol. We hope it convinces you to support us directly!

To celebrate our anniversary and the work our team has done over the past year, each day for the rest of the month, we're going to be making some of our best articles free to read! Our 1st free article is our investigation earlier this year into the crowdfunding chaos that was Wonders of the First

Of course my Zinequest/Zine Month roundup focused on solo RPGs. This time of year is golden for us solitary rollers.

Understanding that @friede.bsky.social's academic background and intentional focus is on storytelling, it's notable how little D&D-as-mechanics enters the discussion. I wouldn't know where to begin untangling a critique of something so massive, but this is a fantastic stab at the beast.
