The most important part though for me is purposeful and NOT solely performative/personally congratulatory work; too darn much of that for like, the past 10 years

And of course kicking butt in the peer-reviewed department as well ... for the important/urgent stuff that requires vigor (for the lab I am in we are full steam ahead on systematics work)

My thought is that it's whatever we can do - we should be contacting congresspeople, writing comments, writing op-eds, and contacting and pushing for funding assertions.

2/2 I am admittedly a young'n though! In any case when I was involved in organizing for elections under Trump this type of thing was helpful for local engagement - often times local profs signed on and it was always good to have something to point to

1/2 Absolutely! Luckily our (CT) senators are pretty engaged and easy to contact; I have already put through a few forms. I will say though that I do think it sends a message of support to those impacted + barred from speaking, as well as a clear signature of where the community is at...
