If we can get a Susan Collins retirement we’d be golden.

His message was overwhelmingly for the poor and outcasts of a conquered land, and he was murdered by Rome for his anti-elite message, yet too many evangelicals today would rather ally themselves with Empire than with the victims of Empire.

You mean a Galilean peasant who preached about how hard it is for rich people to get to heaven might not have liked the prosperity gospel? /s

As someone who is in the midst of a return to faith via reading Marcus Borg, John Shelby Spong, Peter Enns, and Rob Bell, I can attest to this.

As a person who works at a used bookseller in Louisville, they still seem pretty popular among young people. Granted, it’s Kentucky, but it’s the blue dot of Kentucky.

Yeah, I actually love Inception, but that feels wrong.

I agree, but as a non-New Yorker, I think a Muslim son of immigrants being mayor of the largest city in America, in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, is a very important visual. It’s aspirational, it’s representative of the very best of our ideals. It’s a good thing to put into the world!

Yeah, he was able to run as more of an outsider, which Harris couldn’t really do since she was literally the Vice President.

Once again, fuck Joe Rogan. And honestly, I know Hot Ones has a no politicians policy, but come the fuck on, this is the VPOTUS, make a fucking exception ya wuss.

She had a lot of headwinds that ultimately doomed her, but dammit, I saw those crowds, y’all can’t tell me that excitement wasn’t real. It was the right campaign in a shitty environment for an incumbent party.

Is it so hard to believe that there’s no conspiracy, we just think he’s an asshole?

What it comes down to is that, whether or not you agree with them on everything, the Democratic Party is a normal political party, with all the strengths and flaws that all normal political parties have, and the Republican Party is an abnormal political party. So…vote accordingly!

I expect nothing less from a “former Obama guy.”

I know “Raiders” is technically the “best,” but this one was always my favorite.

This really hit home for me watching the Ken Burns documentary “U.S. and the Holocaust.”

For better and for worse, we’re stubborn assholes who don’t like being told what to do.

That’s my city! Couldn’t make it today, but glad it was such a good time turnout, despite the rain!

I hope so. I feel like fomenting an insurrection should disqualify you from lying in state but 🤷♂️

I guess by “we” I mean “people on the news.” I won’t feel that bad, personally.

Something I think about all the time is that because he’s a president, he’ll be required to lie in state. And we’ll all just have to pretend to be respectful, and it’ll SUCK.

If they wanted to critique power, they’d spend more time attacking the people actually in power, i.e. not Democrats. But no, easier to just give aid and comfort to the powerful by lying about their opponents.

Also, nothing makes me feel more embarrassed than reading the sycophantic comments below an Onion article. “Boy, you really got em this time, sir! How DO you do it!!??”

Much like how voters see what they want to see in Trump, they also see what they want to see in Dems.

I don’t live in NYC so don’t know much about specific policy stuff, but he seems like a genuinely decent guy with an energetic campaign and an optimistic message. I like the guy!

We just wants to be a British monarch—all the pomp and circumstance, none of the actual hard work of governing.

Also, “Lincoln” is such a good ass movie. One of the great films about American politics.

Yeah, I always thought his biggest weakness is that he’s a little too Online. Which doesn’t keep me from thinking he’s a talented filmmaker and enjoying his work, but is a little irritating.

Just recently visited Chicago again—I should really go more often. Lots of stuff to do, but somehow not super intimidating. New York wrapped in Midwestern politeness.

I’m not saying Dems are perfect (no political party is), but it feels borderline irresponsible to talk about why Dems have low approval ratings & not bring up shit like this. A large percent of the mainstream American media apparatus is showing a single political party in the worst possible light.

His hold over his supporters is totally unique, and will be very hard, if not impossible, for the GOP to replicate once he finally goes the way of the dodo.
