Dismantling the USPS will be devastating for rural states like Maine, where people depend on the mail for their SS checks, prescription drug deliveries, and other critical needs. The USPS is a foundational service. It needs to be properly funded, not destroyed to make way for an Amazon monopoly.

No president—Republican or Democrat—has the right to punish an entire state for upholding these principles. If the President attempts to follow through with this threat, we will fight this in Congress, in the courts, and alongside every Mainer who believes in equality under the law.

The courts have repeatedly ruled that the government can't withhold funding to undermine civil rights protections, including those enshrined in Title IX. The state’s policies are in compliance with the Maine Human Rights Act, and reflect our commitment to ensuring equal opportunity for all students.

The White House is clearly directing these agencies to stop communicating with Congress. It’s dangerous, it’s counterproductive, and it only reinforces the perception that this Administration believes it’s above the Constitution.

Climate change is making hurricanes stronger, storms more destructive, and wildfires more uncontrollable. And this Administration wants to tell people who lose their homes, “Sorry, you’re out of luck”?   This isn't just bad, shortsighted policy. It's callous and cruel.

Russia illegally invaded Ukraine. Tens of thousands of people have died. Millions have been displaced. Russia continues to be a serious threat. And this is who the President wants to appease? Allying with dictators will not "Make America Great." And it certainly won't make the world safer. (3/3)

Abandoning our strategic partners to cozy up to Vladimir Putin—an actual dictator who has ordered the assassination of journalists and political rivals, destroyed free and fair elections in his own country, and threatened the world with nuclear annihilation—is incredibly alarming. (2/3)

I understand wanting to make these systems more accurate and efficient. But that’s not what this is about. It’s about undermining the public’s trust in Social Security, thereby giving Musk and DOGE an excuse to dismantle it. Don’t believe the lies. Follow the facts. (3/3)

Turns out, it’s a coding issue in the SSA's software system—a fact that many computer programmers have pointed out. From 2015 to 2022, improper payments from the SSA accounted for less than *ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT* of all transactions. Most them were overpays to living people. (2/3)

In addition to sparking a trade war, the President has repeatedly doubled down on taking over Canada. Let's be clear: This isn't a joke. It's a threat. And Canadians take it seriously. The President's dangerous rhetoric is damaging a vital trade partnership—and our deepest cultural relationship.

President Trump and Elon Musk—two people who know *nothing* about farming—have already caused so much pain, confusion, and hardships for so many people. Our farmers and producers deserve so much better than this.

But in taking time to reflect on our past presidents, we can remind ourselves what’s possible when they represent the best of us—in their character, in their leadership, in their sense of possibility—and the fantastic things that truly great leaders can accomplish. 🇺🇸

Today, Presidents Day is meant to honor all of our nation's commanders in chief. Many have been great. Some have been downright terrible.

Employees are the Forest Service's most critical resource; without them, it is impossible to ensure our nation’s forests remain healthy and properly managed.

Title 1 funds, support for special education, Pell grants, money for Head Start: all would be in jeopardy if this unelected billionaire gets his way. What DOGE is doing isn’t an “audit.” It’s an assault our communities.

Today, the people of Portland are keeping this beloved tradition alive. It’s a soul-moving testament to the idea that even the smallest acts of love and kindness can become something special. Something powerful. Something that lifts everyone up. We need that energy—now more than ever. #BeAKevin

You know who relies on Medicaid for health coverage in Maine?   ⚕️ 35% of ALL children. ⚕️ 39% of moms giving birth (and their newborn babies). ⚕️ 47.5% of working-age adults with disabilities ⚕️ 65% of people in nursing homes.   This is next-level awful, and it's guaranteed to hurt Maine families.

I joined nearly 200 Democrats in demanding that DOGE's cronies be removed from the CFPB—so the agency can continue its work of protecting Americans from financial abuse. What Musk and DOGE are doing is clearly illegal. We've fought against attempts to dismantle CFPB before, and we'll do it again.

This is just bizarre. It’s also bad news for Maine, which has one of the lowest birth rates in the U.S. (and *the* oldest population). They're trying to spin this as "economic development" and "strengthening American families.” Let’s call it what it is: a terrible policy based on political biases.

Tariffs can be an important tool for strengthening our economy, but the President’s reckless and sweeping tariffs on Canadian goods will only create economic hardship—for Mainers and Canadians alike. (The article is also available in English once you click through.)

Even before COVID, several Trump-era policies—including his $2 trillion tax cuts—were creating inflationary pressure. Now he wants to pass even more tax cuts, while pursuing disastrous tariffs. This Administration's economic agenda will not help us tackle inflation. They'll only make things worse.

The people of Maine’s First District made their voices heard. They asked the tough questions. They spoke for their families and communities. They did their part. I want you all to know: I hear you. I share your anger. And I promise to do *my* part to hold this Administration accountable. (2/2)

“The confusion around federal-employee buyouts hurts families—including ours. What can be done?” Trump loves to demonize federal workers. But these are hardworking people who do vital jobs. This is turning their world upside down—and no way to run a government. We’ll do all we can to protect them.
