Question for academics: is your dept/college tracking and communicating grant cancellations?

I cut my hair, dyed it weird colors, and usually wear a rainbow wristband at work. Every student with blue hair that I teach comes by my office to tell me about their plants or their cats. No one is coming out to anyone, and yet we know who we are.

The mindset employers want young people embarking on a career to have is one where they are willing to work long hours for lower pay than they deserve. School should teach them the opposite.

A 7yo asked me to use a new set of pronouns for them for a week just to see what it's like and honestly sometimes I love the world

Again, I don't think it's at all obvious what AI is going to do to the economy but on my very specific hobby horse: it's darkly funny how quickly we've gone from "mobilize schools to meet the economy's unfathomable appetite for computer scientists" to "tough luck coders we have AI now".

Putting this in context there are 615 Hispanic Serving Institutions and 425 EMERGING HSIs. HSIs enroll 37% if Pell Students HSIs enroll 33% of all undergraduate students on non-profit secondary ed LET THAT SINK IN
