I live in Boyle Heights, these fireworks are annoying as hell. No consideration for the people who have to wake up early to go work/school, for people who get triggered from loud noises, pets/wild animals, the effects on the environment and air quality, etc.

Because xenophobia and racism. I don't overthink the why's anymore. I've just come to realize that it's as simple as xenophobia, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. They just don't want to admit that that's what they are. Mostly symbolic, as legal challenges are expected due to issues like expired ratification deadlines & state rescissions. Not an exec order but his "belief" that the ERA has met constitutional requirements. The National Archivist previously declined to certify ERA, likely headed for judicial review.
