Disabled people are the experts in our bodies. We know what we can and can’t handle, and often understand our conditions better than most healthcare workers. Respect our autonomy & don’t force us to put our baseline at risk. Let us be partners in our care.

If it was really that easy to get disability benefits, we'd already have Panorama-type programmes where journalists have applied and "gamed the system". We'd have myriad examples and whistleblowers. We don't. Because it's not easy. The rhetoric is just that... Rhetoric.

Sometimes you do something that makes your future self thank you, and sometimes you do things your future self does not like. Present me dislikes past me for not buying enough chocolate because she was "trying to be healthier", pfft, what a square.

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. But what the autistic people in your life hear when you spread that widely debunked misinformation is that you would prefer to have a child die a painful death from eradicated communicable disease than to be like them. That's nasty work. Hope this helps!

It's a cold day and I didn't get much sleep but I'm planning to take the baby for a walk to the cafe to let my husband have a few hours uninterrupted sleep.

Yup. My husband has a wheelchair. He uses it when he needs to be out and about for an extended period of time or traverse long distances indoors, eg going to hospital or to shopping malls. For medium distances, his crutches suffice on good days. He doesn't go out at all on bad days.

The most common ghosts are the ones that appear to be under a white sheet, flailing their arms. These are people who died while folding their fitted sheets and they are condemned to wander through bedrooms forever, trying to find the corners.

Yeah he's absolutely right. We are surrounded by things made by amazing people. We live in safe houses, and breathe clean air, and drink clean water, because of amazing humans. We listen to music and see art and read books by amazing humans. We hang out, live, work with, raise amazing humans.

Here for the first time online is Rats! a comic biography of Guglielmo Marconi that Aarón Cruz and I made for @ironcircuscomics.bsky.social's Failure to Launch anthology. It shows that the "idea thief who pretended to be a genius inventor" to "world-ruining nazi" pipeline is nothing new. (1/3)

Rich people being all Nazi and then blaming it on autism as if being autistic makes you a Nazi are deluded. I am autistic. I have many autistic friends. Not one of us has ever seig heiled, accidentally or not. In fact I'd say all the autistics I know are kind, left-leaning, and care about justice.

Freezing overnight temperatures, perfect timing for an afternoon powercut to mess up our heating and for us not to notice til 1am when I need to pump. There's only so much warmth blankets and cardigans can provide, and it's not much use when I've gotta have the ladies out to pump them.

The poorest people in society have the worst health outcomes. They're more obese. They abuse more substances. They have more preventable diseases and they have worse mental health outcomes. This, in the long run, costs society more than it would to support them in the first place.
