When you talk with your not-extremely-online friends about what you're doing to push back against the terrible things this administration is doing, you might be the FIRST PERSON to ever mention some of this stuff to them. Keep doing things, keep sharing what you're doing. It matters.

Even if you look at complex and emergent game systems, like procgen, you find players talking about the "system" as that thing they are trying to beat and/or collaborate with. That system is a designed thing.
Gen AI also doesn't have an interesting system, there's nothing to outsmart, learn, etc.

My university was asked to remove words like gender, equality &c. from the Fulbright calls. The response: “The values of the University of Helsinki are truth, Bildung, freedom and inclusivity. We act in accordance with our values and the principle of academic freedom"

Why don’t you say that the Tate brothers built an audience by constantly humiliating the boys and telling them that they’re always in a state of humiliation and emasculation unless they’re abusing or dominating over women in some way? And they brag about their own abuses as triumphs?

People have been saying for as long as I can remember that it is weird western media is more comfortable with torture than kissing; the most extreme violence is more acceptable than intimacy.
It's not weird. It's deliberate. Our culture wants violence public and love private, shameful, atomised.

Dunno why I would care if two characters unexpectedly have to share a bed if I haven't watched seven seasons of a tv show or, conversely, one two hour long movie that I thought too much about. What Sarah and Jim are up to in there has nothing to do with me.

Makes me think abt how the notorious tell of an original fiction writer who started in fic is that they don't know how to describe the physical appearance of characters. Lots of writers who are talented on the sentence level but don't know how to establish or construct the worlds they're writing in!
