2.977 people died on 9/11. The daily quote for ICE is 3000. I think putting it in terms like that puts it into perspective. They want one 9/11 every day.

Things look bleak. Gov. Walz said it’ll get worse before it gets better. Looks worse. Never imagined I’d see, in my lifetime, masked American Gestapo in denim & sneakers marauding about, abducting people. What I could imagine is Americans standing up to ‘em. That’s what I knew we’re capable of.

damn, even the emu get the officer-involved passive voice

James: His critics said that he should wait his turn. His critics said that he did not have the experience. His critics said they did not have the right name. Well, now all of them know his god damn name.

oh my god yes

Andrew Cuomo gets publicly humiliated. Bill Clinton learns his endorsement is worth less than dogshit. What a great time to be a hater. A golden age.

Look, Mamdani taking it IS just one election (admittedly a big one) but the absolute curb stomp he is shaking out to have over Cuomo in what is widely considered to be the biggest Dem stronghold in the country should fire up everybody and also--rightfully--terrify the old guard Dems

@davidhogg.bsky.social was right

This man just beat Andrew Cuomo and the entire political establishment:

"We have to pull back on palestine support" "we have to pull back on trans rights" "Dems should be more centrist" EAT HOT ASPHALT YOU FUCKING LOSERS!!!

Establishment Democrats tonight…

THEY F*CKING TOOK THE ICE CREAM MAN! The photo says it all. Masked ICE goons grabbed Enrique Lozano in front of a Culver City, CA church. A Community Coalition helped the family identify the abandoned cart, locate his belongings. For 20 years, loved in the community. "Hardened criminals" - my ass.

I remember almost 25 years ago hearing that Bush was going to start a "Department of Homeland Security" and thinking "that sounds like Nazi stuff, I hope we don't get into a bunch of Nazi stuff" and here we are

it is funny how many people affiliated with the secret police have had to say "stop making fun of the secret police, the guy in the tac vest that covers him like a training bra is a hero, he tracked down and subdued two hospice orderlies using only the W-2 forms they file annually"

The NYT decided to kick trans people in the teeth the day after Skrmetti. They wrote a hit piece blaming trans people for their own oppression and attacked the people who have fought hardest to stop this effort to eradicate us. They turned to Brianna Wu to further their narrative.

In case you haven’t noticed, the election of even a single person who is considered leftist is so terrifying to capitalists that every weapon imaginable is on the table. This is why, post-WWII, America worked with Nazis, supported dictators, engaged in international terrorism and assassinations.

i had a friend kidnapped by the feds once and no one knew where he was for three hours. just three hours and it was honestly harrowing--his car abandoned, no response on his phone or online, everyone worried sick. i cannot imagine what these families are going through.

To be really clear: The reason members of Congress can't just walk right in is because of the guns. Armed DHS personnel won't allow entry. In other words, DHS is using armed force to *break* laws. Democrats need to wrap their minds around that. Accept that the frog is boiled.

I keep being, like, "Here's the smart thing I can say about the Supreme Court's anti-trans ruling that will convey my rage but also remind people we will find ways to care for those of us who make it," but I don't have it in me. This fucking sucks shit, and I hate it.

And here we have it: an explicit, straightforward argument against the very idea of political leadership. The Democratic Party ethos in its purest form.

The cruelty of this is, genuinely, staggering. This is a policy that saves virtually no money whatsoever whose success is measured in the number of children it kills.

We’re announcing new legislation — the No Secret Police Act (SB 627) — to ban local/state/federal law enforcement, w/ some exceptions, from covering their faces when interacting w/ the public & require them to wear identifying info. The secret police behavior we’re seeing destroys trust & must end🧵

I love the defiance by the younger gen!!!

if you can't protest today, do some pushups. Get swole for democracy so you can push back when you're needed

Exclusive: US Marines carry out first known detention of civilian in Los Angeles, video shows reut.rs/3ZvxVoY

One time this little kid tried to kill us both by suddenly darting in front of my bicycle, only to be scooped up with a profuse apology by Ad Rock from the Beastie Boys

Things are dogshit, but I am very proud to work here today.

My team and I at the Crowd Counting Consortium (@[email protected], Soha Hammam, & Chris Shay) have a new piece out: wagingnonviolence.org/2025/06/amer.... In it, we show that through May 2025, the size and scale of anti-Trump protests have dwarfed those in 2017. 🧵

It's a truly jarring split screen that Kristi Noem's goons attacking Sen Padilla happened at almost the exact same time as 16 Dem senators crossed lines to vote with the GOP to invoke cloture on the crypto bill, forfeiting any leverage. Dems need to act like an opposition.

When you read about the slide from democracy to "competitive authoritarianism" in other countries, it's composed of things like this. No big, sudden breaches, the kind that might spark widespread resistance. Just crossing these little lines, one at a time, each one a seemingly small thing ...
