Totally agree. I have recently decided to not complete another round of justification for my existence.
Which is why I felt I could reply to your post! Literally nothing to lose 😂

Interesting that all the races he names were actually violent, thuggish invaders of the space that is now called Britain.
Projecting much?

Definitely! Once a year I get an “all staff” email saying how much they appreciate their “honorary” staff and how they couldn’t operate without them.
Followed by a 14 page document asking me to justify why they should keep paying me nothing for my work for another 12 months.

So, as I said at the beginning of our exchange, they got what they voted for.
Not thinking much about it is not an excuse. It a position of incredible, and usually white, privilege to be able to vote with "the vibe". It does not excuse them from responsibility for an abhorrent government.

Surely the point is that you don't vote for just one issue - if you vote for someone its because you support their overall position.
The media is complicit everywhere in this country - and many others, I observe. Are voters just stupid, unable to comprehend or think critically?

They voted for a government that proudly said it would criminalise children. Are they surprised at any horrendous thing they do?
"A bit annoyed" is not an excuse. They knew who they were voting for. This is not an outlier.

Oh me too! I’ve got a few more tho.

And that’s what Queensland voters wanted. Just like the NT. That’s why they voted for the cruel, racist rich guys.
This isn’t a surprise or a fault in the system. This is how it’s meant to work. This is what they vote for.
And it’s fucking vile.

Except that’s not true. And it was never true.
Children always got it, carried it, were damaged by it. It was just fewer numbers when school was closed.
But so many people still believe it. The study is further up this thread.

The people who voted for them WANTED this kind of thing done.
That’s what’s really abhorrent. That a majority of Queenslanders are racist and cruel. (& it’s not just Queensland by a long chalk).

Oof. I first read this about a year ago. Cried for hours.
Still hits hard. 💔

Everyone ignores how much impact Covid and long Covid are having on productivity.
How bad will it have to get before we see that we are letting future generations of workers become chronically disabled?
Who will be brave enough to join those dots?
comment in response to

I’m Australian too. Currently our politicians are complaining about loss of productivity. But they don’t see what a HUGE contribution Covid makes to lack of productivity. And it will only get worse.
How bad will it have to be? So frustrating.

Letting Covid run unchecked through the workforce and through schools hurts productivity and will hurt it even more in the future.
Clean the air. Commit to masking for at least one cycle of infection. We could get rid of it.

#NotAllChristians
Just the same as #NotAllWhitePeople and #NotAllMen.
Why the fuck do they think this matters? So much yelling, so little action. Sigh.

Well that post says “my one year old son”. I can only hope that the mother has run a long way away from him.

The patriarchy and capitalism.
A lovely fragrant mixture of misogyny and white privilege.

I’ve come back to say that love is a lot more that attractiveness. Love includes when someone is vomiting, has their period, has shingles, or the runs, is bereaved, has cancer.
Love includes all the ugly stuff. And if it doesn’t, it isn’t love.
Pay attention.

But Tasmanians, being 50% illiterate, do love a recognisable name.

There are people out there who will find it a joy and a privilege to have access to your body under any circumstances.
Find one (or more) of them. Ditch this cockwomble.

In the last two years we lived there, the room with the chimney was my study. My desk was on the fireplace wall. During the day I could hear her snoring - loudly.
It was a delight.
comment in response to

We had a possum living in our chimney for years. She was noisy, had parties and then babies.
SO MANY people suggested we poison her or block the chimney.
NO FUCKING WAY.
It was an honour (even when she got into the house and tracked soot through 5 rooms 😂😂)

Not in the slightest.
I remember even when I was trying to study that I enjoyed hearing the kids being read to in a corner of the room. Little enough to laugh & gasp aloud. And someone yelling out “mum I’ve found a new book about lemurs” was just a delight, even tho others went ssshhh.

The idea that someone wouldn't be more interested in protecting their newborn granddaughter - even if it was for a minor reason - than in scoring some anti-vax points on the internet is just doing my head in.

We went o/s in 2019, as a grief distraction. TBH I don't remember huge bits of it which is a shame.
But I don't think we will go again. Covid is too much of a risk and I can't justify the carbon footprint of a holiday trip in a plane. It sucks because we are so far from anywhere.

University library - definitely.
Public library - not at all. I want to hear children enjoying themselves in a joyous space. Reading is a gift.
