I was in the immense Canadian D-Day cemetery as young French school kids read a poem to Canada's fallen. "We are your children we are children of liberty." A D-Day vet stood up and said to the students "don't weep for any man here. We would do it all again so you could be free." This is Canada.

Holy shit @ Jazz - Hawks finish

Are you wondering why grocery prices are still high? It's these three guys making billions from you because they run monopolies in the food business and no one can stop them.

just insane. Reviewing a paper on covid in Canada that finds an 11-fold increase in risk of hospitalization in the month after infection. Just absolutely bonkers. I've been doing respiratory virus epi for a long time, and we really don't trade in statistics like "relative risk = 11"

It looks like the Toronto Sun made extensive revisions to a Joe Warmington column about Justin Trudeau getting ambushed at a ski hill New version adds quotes from Emily Duggan rationalizing her actions, cuts 344 words criticizing her for swearing at Trudeau in front of his kids

Again: were I a wealthy industrialist, I would focus on well-made products that could never be connected to the Internet, for a fair price

"If a population all wear FFP2/N95 masks, this reduces the effective reproduction number for #COVID-19 transmission by a factor of approximately 9." #MaskUp 😷 #CovidIsAirborne 🦠 🧪🩺⚕️🧠 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

I’ve been a doctor for more than 20 years & this is the first time that I’ve seen a paediatric stroke awareness campaign (from the American Heart Association). Gosh, what could possibly have changed in the past 5 years* which is increasing the risk of paediatric stroke? *Spoiler alert: it’s COVID

For Giving Tuesday, consider throwing a wee bit of money to the @cancovsoc.bsky.social Canadian Covid Society. Of all the orgs I work with, it struggles the most with fundraising, as we have yet to acheive charitable status. $5//$25/$100 $500/ $10000. Every little bit counts to keep us afloat!

perhaps the most cogent installment of the "I'm a famous person/athlete who got ME/CFS from covid" interview I've seen love that he's done the reading, and that he draws the links between fatphobia/exercise supremacy, eugenics, and medical mistreatment of long covid and flomasks! in the guardian!!

A postal worker strike in Canada was the first domino to getting better paid maternal leave across Canada. This strike is important for Canada Post workers of course, but this sets the stage for A LOT in Canada. Support our fellow workers.

Review for many and necessary watch (better late than never) for others.

Your move, Canada. The more high-speed rail built around the globe, the increasing urgency to build Canada's Quebec City - Toronto corridor. And while we're at it, let's add Windsor to the mix and generate more tourism $$ & trade connections to Michigan and nearby states.
