Ultras in Scottish football can get in the bin. A few of my students were set upon in Dundee this weekend for daring to walk to the game without even wearing club colours. Ditch this shitty macho image - it's ruining it. Let other countries keep it and ditch the willy waving of who is the hardest.

Do I have the psychological capacity for a Dundee football match and the Calcutta cup or do I just go for a very long run in the Yellow Weather warning rain?

No pool this week. It's under deep clean after nappy leak 🤢 Keeping the exercise up with staff Vs student basketball. Brutal sport two 10 minute halves and I've run 2 miles in 50m sprints. Staff won though. Grizzled experience ground it out 14-7

Sign of ears getting better - first set this year with tumble turns.

Get poolside. Load suggested set from watch. Warm Up - 3*100 Fly on 2.10 - That's not a bloody warm up! Straight to the bag to get the fins and off we went.

Out of our 48hour power cut to find the Caledonian Gladiators won the cup. Wanted to watch the stream but delighted for the girls and hopefully see the trophy at the Playsport soon.

Short but intense session to see how I'd cope. 5*50s Fly @1.15, 2*300 with paddles, 200 alternating strong and easy, 4*25 then 4*50 hypoxic. Feel for the water coming back. Not as wiped as yesterday.

Back in the pool..basic set of drills, 100s, and a couple of IM sprints to get the heart rate. More tiring than I've normally found after a break so the illness has kicked me a bit. A we bit woozy turning front to back but will be back in again tomorrow.

Back to it after post New Year bug and ear infection. Still a couple of days off the pool but lack of dizziness allowed some gentle rowing 8*500 with 1 min rest intervals and some basic strengthening of the weak spots - shoulders, hips and calves plus a lot of core. Kept heart rate in Zones 1+2

Gladiators unlucky with the overtime loss. Exciting game and starting to show a bit of form.

So the new year return to work and the pool has been interrupted by illness. The most frustrating thing as all classes were prepped for really structured introductions / revisions of topics and I've had to scramble around to cover them with work they can do independently.

Some ball from Mulligan into Seb.

Another PB taking a second and a half of 200 FC. Mind blown at this as have swum 70k fewer metres this year than the previous year when I set the previous best. Work smarter not harder. 200IM and 400 free tomorrow #swim

Last week of term I always do time trials in the pool. Every year I think why do I do this when I'm at my most tired. However, 1.26 5 second pb for 100 IM and then second fastest 100 free ever after 15 mins rest. 200s free and IM and 400 free to go.

Cracking work from the Dundee Community Trust and the Junior Dees team. Wee man wasn't able to make the Christmas event but the team managed to get his calendar signed. Just picked it up and there were some added goodies for the kids too. Thanks Tracey, Laura et al. @dundeefootballclub.bsky.social

Kemi Badenoch and Winnie the Pooh - Honey sandwich without the bread

Outdoor first aid course straight into 2 and a half hours of parents' evening is a pretty heavy change of gears!

Pool has been sporadically closed for heating issues over the last week so have been working Rowing. Pool open today but so stiff from rowing had to go easy. Did a set with paddles / fins to keep the speed but ease the impact. 8*75 kick pull swim and 4*100s at CSS for main set 1600 total. #lunchswim

Great win for the Caledonian Gladiators over Cardiff. Awesome for our family's favourite Robyn Lewis as MVP. Underrated player.

@zoedavidson.bsky.social I hope to see the Doctor style by March

Good morning you bloody lovely BlueSky people. As a morning timeline cleanser, enjoy a very short thread of animals given official Zoological names after odd things. First, I give you the spider, Hotwheels Sisyphus, which is how I feel much of the time. Then the land snail, Crikey steveirwini:

Gladiators Vs Wildcat score was fantastic. Shame the link went down

Looking forward to the Gladiators Vs Nottingham game tomorrow

Who do I want to cross now - Bob Bowman, Caledonian Gladiators, Lisa Palombo, Gladcast, Dens Park Choir (bringing a few other Dee's) George Cran, Dundee FC, Michael Johnson, James Redbank

Today's #swimset Lactic threshold special! Warm up - 200IM 200FC, preset 8*25 building from 27 second singles to 20 on .35, main set - 150 @85%, 1 min rest 50 100% 1 min rest - 4-8 times through. Cool down - easy 50s rotate stroke until the jelly leaves the arms.
