Just came here to say I really enjoyed this. It's refreshing to see a creative perspective on engaging with an AI tool and providing a nuanced insight.

๐Ÿ“บ Severance (S2) ๐Ÿ—ƒ๐ŸŽท๐ŸŽบ๐Ÿฅ In January I discovered Severance and binged season 1 and in February and March I watched S2 week to week with everyone else. Very different experiences. But, Severance continues to top my TV Show Power Rankings (if I had one) as celebrated by Choreography and Merriment.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ The Royal Tenenbaums Fell so far behind that I'm closing the loop on March on May 4th. ๐Ÿคฆ My first Wes Anderson movie in honor of the passing of Gene Hackman. I was surprised to find a number of very curious performances of which my favorite was probably Gwyneth Paltrow's Margot.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ Heretic ๐Ÿšโณ๏ธ Higmmugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East all put in performances that make this tense thriller very enjoyable. The first 30 minutes of this movie Hugh Grant is masterful is oscillating between earnestly curious to downright dastardly as the girls try to assess the situation.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“บ Electric State ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ˜ฌ During that same work trip, with every TV station in Spanish in the hotel room, Electric State popped up on the Netflix feed so I gave it a shot. I would have been better off watching it in Spanish I think. Remember Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation?

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ Super Mario 3D World ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ„โœด๏ธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฑ I have never played Super Mario 3D World and picked it up for MAR10 Day on sale before a work trip and am so happy I did. Immediately I was punched in the face with nostalgia as I explored a combination of Super Mario Bros 3 and Mario 64. ...and the music... ๐Ÿ‘Œ

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ The Host ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‰ After Mickey 17, I wanted to go back to an older Bong Joon Ho film and experience his affinity for 'creatures'. This was a wonderful straight up monster flick with characters that could have fallen right out of the Parasite script.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ Mickey 17 ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ‘๐Ÿฆฌ Bong Joon Ho's follow up to Parasite is not quite on the same level but probably not trying to be. I found it hilarious. Robert Pattinson was unbelievable. Really enjoyed Naomi Ackie as well. The space rock scene brought me back to the Parasite birthday party. Loved it.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ The Florida Project ๐ŸŠโ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒด Appropriate since I'm in Florida this weekend. Following up on Sean Baker's work after loving Anora last year and this was exactly what I was hoping for in his backlog. The young actors and actresses are just incredible. A nostalgic tragedy.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ Avowed ๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฅ€ The thing I love the most about Avowed is probably the vivid colors it uses in its visual style. So much fantasy, sci-fi, and horror just lives in these drab gray zones and Avowed is strikingly colorful. The narrative is not grabbing me but it's fine. Most importantly, it's fun.

Hospitals are such a tragic, deplorable, inspiring, mundane, and saddening place. Hope your Mom recovers well and quickly.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ 1000xResist (2024) Flat out rivaling Severance for the best piece of media I've consumed this month. @sunsetvisitor.studio demonstrates how their approach to storytelling translates perfectly to video games while also challenging the status quo. Can't stop thinking about this game.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ Flow (2024) ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฆ› Not sure if being a cat owner introduces bias here, but I loved this absolutely delightful (90 minute!) film about a cast of animals forced onto an adventure by the ecology around them. The hint of fantastical with no real explanation felt well balanced. Loved it.

๐Ÿ“บ Paradise (2025) ๐ŸŠ I turned it on because I was curious about the episode 1 finale 'twist'... But this week's penultimate episode of season 1 was way, way better than it had any right to be. Of course watching Sterling K. Brown is a good way to spend an hour, but this show is good.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ Citizen Sleeper 2 (2025) ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ›ฐ๐Ÿ’ฝ The first Citizen Sleeper was always on my backlog but I never got to it and I prioritized the 2025 release instead. The story and the characters are amazing. The character art is just superb. The dice roll mechanics do well to propel you through this story.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿšฌ Saturday Night (2024) & SNL 50 weekend The movie was fun, especially J.K. Simmons as Milton Berle showing Chevy Chase 'the business'. The SNL 50 concert was awesome. Probably enjoyed that more than the 50th anniversary episode itself.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ You're Cordially Invited (2025) ๐Ÿคตโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฐโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿคต๐ŸŠ Well, they aren't all classics... My wife and I cozied up in front of the fireplace and assumed there'd be a solid floor established by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon and the conceit of two families double booking the same venue for a wedding. Not so

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ The Lighthouse (2019) ๐Ÿ”ฆ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ›ถ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒซ Two masterful performances by Willem DaFoe and Robert Pattinson. Alien and familiar as a native New Englander in different ways but this movie makes you reconsider how you define isolation. My second Eggers movie and looking forward to Nosferatu.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ Conclave (2024) ๐Ÿ‘ดโ›ช๏ธ๐Ÿšฌ๐Ÿ—ณ I thought the trailer had spoiled the twist in this movie until I got to the end and was floored. Edward Berger and Ralph Fiennes propulse you through what could be extremely dry subject matter. Really enjoyed a number of performances here.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ Civil War (2024) ๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿ“ท At first, I recognized this movie as the poster excessively advertised in the MAX streaming app. But this was much better than I expected. I realized it was written and directed by Alex Garland. Solid acting performances and a pretty good angle on the idea. Worth a watch.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ I Saw The TV Glow (2024) ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ“ผ Those moments in life when it doesn't feel like you fit in the world around you.... you can bury yourself in the escapism of media. A hit of 90s nostalgia just before it reminds you that it wasn't exactly like you remembered. I'll see Jane Schoenbrun's next film.

๐ŸŽง๐ŸŽถ Nirvana 'Nevermind' (1991) Fleetwood Mac 'Rumors' (1977)๐Ÿ“€๐ŸŽถ I spent time recently with two formative albums for me. Nevermind was one of the first CDs I purchased. And Fleetwood Mac was one of my Mom's favorite bands that I didn't give enough attention to when younger. Rumors absolutely rocks.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“– Demon Copperhead (2022) ๐Ÿšฌ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’Š Bad job by me. I started this book last year, made it half way through and then fell off for 6 months. What an amazing tale of how the poor folks of rural Appalachia were casualties of the 'innovation' of oxycodone. A deeply sad story about addiction and loneliness.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ Rebel Ridge (2024) ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Nash Bridges is kind of an a$$hole, right? Aaron Pierce was awesome. It recognizes more serious themes but still allows the viewer to just enjoy it as a well paced action movie.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ The Substance (2024) One last movie before we flip the calendar to February. What better way to celebrate the abandonment of all of our health-conscious New Year's resolutions than this? If only you could tell your past self how good you actually look eternally. It's all downhill from here.

๐Ÿ“บ๐ŸŽฅ Love Has Won (2024) ๐Ÿ“บ๐ŸŽฅ The Fall of Diddy (2025) A pair of disturbing documentary series on Max. Though at different scales, both of these tell stories of how people can be manipulated by other people. And both are just absolutely shocking to hear how far and deep that manipulation can go.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ Lonely Mountain Snow Riders (2025) โ›ท๏ธ๐Ÿ”โฑ๏ธโ„๏ธ Delightful little day 1 Game Pass game. The look and the _feel_ of the snow is excellent. The controls and physics of moving through the snow feels authentic. It's addictive to perfect a run and the freedom to choose your path keeps it fresh.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽฌ Parasite (2019) ๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ•ณ๐Ÿ”ช It's been on my list since the Best Picture win. The movie poster always stuck with me. Absolutely fantastic film. The absurdity of this family is established right from the start. Looking forward to Bong Joon Ho's new movie this year, Mickey 17.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ–ฅ Tactical Breach Wizards (2024) ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธโœŠ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž I may not finish it this month but I kept going back & am in the 4th Act. There's a bit of Into The Breach here as far as puzzling your way through each stage. The rewind function rewards experimentation. Gameplay is great but the fun writing sets it apart.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ The Brutalist ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿ› As well paced as a 214 minute runtime film can be? Full of amazing performances but Felicity Jones stood out as the wife of Lรกszlรณ Tรณth, Erzsรฉbet.

๐ŸŽง๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ“€ Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life' Trying to be more prescriptive in my music selection to escape from my 'algorithmic suggestions'. My first real time spent with Stevie Wonder and not disappointed. Loved this album full of classics. 'Pastime Paradise' was a revelation.

๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ Den of Thieves 2: Pantera ๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž Fun movie. Did not have the same edge or grime that made the first Den of Thieves stand out. I missed the Merrimen character (Pablo Schreiber). Diamond heists on the coastline of France is not a bad way to spend two hours.
