Trump did it because he loves Putin www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Nauseated and ashamed.

"We’re witnessing the self-sabotage of the United States" from @davidfrum.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

"I'm ashamed to be American" is pretty performative and not usually apt -- America is a lot of things! and a lot of people! -- but I'm not sure what else to say today. This is sickening, especially when you consider the price Ukraine has paid in blood for 3 years. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02...

The most shameful day for the United States of America in any of our lifetimes.

The exchange between Trump, Vance and Zelenskyy in the Oval Office today in which our country attacked the victim in defense of a brutal aggressor has to be one of the most shameful moments in Modern American history.

There's a real problem when the left/liberals push ideas that are clearly politically poisonous. You have to wonder if people who promote such ideas are seriously concerned about the populist right, because they sure don't act like it.

The thesis of this piece by Sonia Sodha is obv. correct. Searched Bsky comments, and of course, it's full of people calling the author a Nazi. Good luck winning another election. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Genuinely horrifying. 20 million people receive HIV antiviral treatment from the program annually. Mothers with HIV would transmit it to their infants at birth if not for perinatal antiviral treatment. This should be resumed as soon as possible. Every day of delay means more lives lost.

Two

Authoritarianism in America (2) - Why would Trump invoke the Alien Enemies Act, a law last used to intern loyal Japanese-Americans in WWII? Because identifying and rounding up domestic "enemies" is what authoritarians do. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Congratulations, the infamous Russian bots broadly known on other platforms as Doppelgänger are also active on BlueSky now: (As spotted by @fabtab.nafoeverywhere.org)

Sounds bad

Breaking News: President-elect Trump’s advisers are said to be trying to identify a disease that could help them justify closing the U.S. border with Mexico. They have spent months trying to find the right disease to build their case.

He’s so great in this.

Ah, there’s nothing like a good Holocaust comedy. ( I saw it. It was great.)

r/AmIOverreacting There’s a group of strangers outside my house yelling that they want “figgy pudding” (unclear what that is) and threatening that they won’t leave until they get some. It’s been minutes and they’re still out there. I called the cops; AIO?

I’m actually happy to see responses like this. It’s good when people are honest about their positions, and don’t hide behind euphemisms. If you believe that the only home for Jews in the ME should be destroyed, then you should say so!

No, and such rhetoric is unhelpful, to say the least.

More on Zionism then. Zionism is basically just saying that Israel should serve as a homeland for Jews in the M.E. I get that it seems a bit unfair as it seems to privilege one ethno-religious group. But here’s the thing. Without it, Jews would be ethnically cleansed from the entire M.E.

Lol, person who dunked on me has the hammer and sickle in their name tag. Maybe it’s just me, but I think you kind of lose the moral high ground when you identify with an ideology that has resulted in perhaps 100 million deaths.

Of course, I only put Zionist in my bio to see what kind of reaction it would get. I don’t even know what it means when Israel actually exists, and will continue to exist.

An 18k account just quote-tweeting a random tweet of mine to dunk on me for having Zionist in my bio. What a nice site this is.

I dunno, I feel like I’m giving up on this place again. It’s just dead. And the never ending bot follows are extremely annoying. Oh, and I must have mentioned that I think you’re all idiots here?

When you ask “was the suspect an extremist”, which kind of extremist did you have in mind www.spiegel.de/panorama/jus...

This echoes a previous atrocity. This echoes a previous atrocity. In 2016, 13 were killed, 70 injured in an Islamically motivated terror attack on the Berlin Christmas market.

Vaccine skepticism turning into institutional anti-vax hostility. Rapidly.

I guess we can finally answer this one.

the NYC computer terminals are trying to do a yule log but it's sideways

nothing on earth could have prepared me for the dancing videos in this New York Times article

Yet another lese majeste verdict for Arnon Nampa, this time over a 2020 Harry Potter-themed protest, at which he criticized Thailand's monarchy. In total, that puts him at nearly 19 years in prison, just for speaking his mind about Thailand's political system. Unthinkable. Abolish lese majeste laws.

The most depressing thing for me from the last 3 years is that some people seem angry at Ukrainians for wanting to fight for their whole country and their freedom.
