None of this can be divorced from Trump’s history of not paying contractors (and getting them deported if they complain), stiffing lawyers, reneging on deals, and shivving clients. He simply thinks you’re a sucker if you ever pay for anything and extrapolates that to world trade with zero thought.

So I just finished a memoir by someone with a fascinating story who has obviously been through a lot, and one thread was her journey of finding out she was donor conceived, which she really struggled with. She is obviously entitled to all those feelings, I fully believe that it can get really messy.
