Has anyone else had issues with Signal messages being sent but not delivered in the last few minutes? It's happening to me on two phones and my laptop.

'West’s Nazi T-shirt was “vile, disgusting, and inexcusable” and that “everyone agrees with that.” But that didn’t affect Shopify’s decision to delete West’s online store, Hertz added. “Opinion doesn’t factor in here,” she said. “What matters is our terms of service".' thelogic.co/news/shopify...

Canada's Supreme Court is considering offering mediation services for cases it does not accept to hear. I spoke to a dozen lawyers, judges and court watchers who almost all agreed: interesting idea, but why? My story đź”˝ nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

As if quality writing wasn't disappearing fast enough, in what world does @Microsoft think that shoving some AI writing prompt bullshit down my throat in Word is going to make the world a better place - or my life as a writer any easier? And how do I make this shit disappear?

Ottawa quietly signed a new deal with the U.S. that automatically trades troves of personal data of millions of permanent residents in either country when they try to cross the U.S.-Canada border. “Shocking”, say top immigration lawyers, who had no idea. nationalpost.com/news/politic...

Scoop: Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares isn’t the only hockey star taking a shot at the taxman. Former Leafs Patrick Marleau and Jacob Muzzin are also facing off in court against the Canada Revenue Agency over tax bills worth millions. My story: nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

With regards to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's resignation and accepted request to prorogue Canadian parliament, two things can be true at the same time: 1) His request to prorogue is (likely) constitutional and legal (but judges can decide that) 2) His party promised this in its 2015 platform

Live shot of the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal now that PM Justin Trudeau has asked the GG to prorogue until March 24 (presumably for a Liberal leadership race to unfold): For reference: nationalpost.com/news/politic...

The Conservatives say they would maintain spending increases the Trudeau government has planned for the military if they win power in the next election. The planned increases (billions per year) also would be exempt from Poilievre’s proposed “dollar-for-dollar” spending cap. Story here:

There are no less than 7 references to Taylor Swift song titles in my piece this morning. Can you find them all? nationalpost.com/news/politic...

NEW: Former Toronto Blue Jays all-stars Josh Donaldson and Russell Martin scored a major win against the Canada Revenue Agency as a Tax Court judge cried foul over the agency’s attempt to tax millions of $ in additional income. My latest in the National Post 🔽 nationalpost.com/news/politic...

From attendees in T-shirts to cameras pointed at unmade beds, Federal Court Chief Justice Paul Crampton says he’s noticed an increase in “unwelcome informality” during virtual hearings, particularly among young lawyers, since COVID-19. My latest ⬇️ nationalpost.com/news/politic...

Opposition parties & top legal and judicial associations are calling on the Liberals to increase funding to the federal courts after a chief justice warned his court is in “crisis” because of budget shortfalls. One lawyer said he’s literally losing sleep over it. ⬇️ nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

"We can't get their attention because there's no votes in the courts" Federal Court chief says the court is in “crisis” and considering cutting hearings due to a worsening budget shortfall that is significantly delaying court operations amid a record high caseload. nationalpost.com/news/politic...

Si vous n’avez pas encore lu cette incroyable histoire de mon collègue @lpbourdeau.bsky.social c’est le temps. Il est très inquiétant de voir qu’il est si facile de déjouer un juge du Tribunal administratif du logement au Québec.

NEWS: A Red Deer judge whose dispute with a defence lawyer ended in the latter being jailed admitted he should have done more to “de-escalate” the situation. He offered a qualified apology to the lawyer and declined to cite him with contempt of court.

Was this column written by Twitter?

Mais comment c’est possible cette histoire?! « Au Québec, le Code civil n’oblige pas les tribunaux à vérifier les rapports d’huissier, car ils sont présumés authentiques. Le fardeau revient donc au locataire de prouver que le document est contrefait. » www.journaldemontreal.com/2024/11/22/u...

Building on the work of @christopher.bsky.social and others.. * respected Indigenous authors and lawyers call for Randy Boissonnault to be removed from Indigenous caucus * Conservatives vow to expand their investigation into his company’s claims that it was « Indigenous owned »

New: For years, the Liberal Party of Canada touted Minister Randy Boissonnault as an Indigenous MP and part of the “largest number of Indigenous MPs” ever elected in a Canadian government, despite the fact Boissonnault now says he has never claimed Indigenous status. nationalpost.com/news/politic...
