Clay Bennett, Chattanooga Times Free Press

Spot on. This is the clearest explanation I’ve seen. It ‘s relatable, and humanizes the issue in a way everyone can understand.

Sorry for the mixup, he meant "sees fire."

New Legislation Frees Up President To Do Pretty Much Anything, Really theonion.com/congres...

Historically, public support for foreign wars has tended to rise right after the initial action, and then support falls. Iraq is a great example, but it is not the only one. + with polarization, I would expect approval of Trump striking Iran to temporarily bounce as Republicans sort on the issue

Do you think we should bomb Iran with no declaration of war? No. American lives aren’t at risk. What if it meant RFK Jr. would resign? Hmmmm… can you tell me more about the target sites?

WED at 9AM: We're speaking with writer, historian and activist @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social about her essays and the importance of persevering, even when it doesn’t feel good. buff.ly/UAbJoqj

The Minnesota assassin supported Donald Trump and had a kill list consisting entirely of Democrats and reproductive rights advocates. But it's unclear what his political motivations might be.

This is gotta be intentional. But it’s also just weird! How many NYT readers were at protests? What % of subscribers? A substantial %! How can it not be seen as newsworthy, especially given the readership?

I count 49 news headlines on the NYT mobile app home page right now, not including opinion, sports or cooking. None of them are about the massive protests yesterday.

“Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.”

NY times: Spirited Kristi Noem Briefing Interrupted by Annoying Sound of Democrat Senator Padilla's Skull Hitting Floor

In Donald Trump's America, if you say "I am Senator Alex Padilla, I have questions for the Secretary," you get thrown to the floor and handcuffed.

i've been trying to see what the right wing platforms (even outside of X) are showing people regarding the protests in LA and i am not sure it can be overstated just how much the AI slop is being used to reinforce the idea that downtown is a post-apocalyptic war zone

Real world: - Trump team trying to create a Reichstag moment. - Trump telling military audience that LA is hellhole full of "animals" - Officials in Calif trying both to calm things down, and stand up PUNDIT world: - Is it smart politics? - Is Gavin running? - Doesn't Trump look strong!

W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee: “Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

WATCH THIS SHIT: The U.S. military just chased down and assaulted a peaceful protester like they were a fucking terrorist. No weapon. No threat. No reason. Just brute state power. You are watching fascism go live in real-time.

We feed you. They hunt us.

“In 1900, 30 percent of all deaths in the United States occurred among children younger than 5, mostly because of preventable infectious diseases. By the end of the century, that number was just 1.4 percent.” #VaccinesWork #VaccinesSaveLives #ACIP
