"Damnit, honey...you let another Nazi pedophile in when you opened the door for your pornstar friend. How many times have I asked you...?"

If you don't think the consistent sanewashing by traditional media has an effect, you're bonkers.

I just wonder how they think the mechanics of this works? The logistics of paying millions of people is not trivial.

And yet has half the country believing he is its greatest defender....

Post-50 and you can switch "basketball" with "movement".

You'll get help as long as there is something in it for them. As soon as that ends....

You can say whatever you want, if you have no shame.

They are making people disappear!!! What the absolute fuck do you want people to do? If ICE, Guard, LAPD want violence, they will get violence regardless of how peaceful and disciplined the protest if the goal is to protect the community.

Yes. As if the righteousness of the message magically convinced the country that racism was wrong...all without disturbing the peace. WTF?

The entire Star Wars saga is about leveraging law and order into fascism.

I'm going to throw "friends" into that as well. Ostracism.

Turn it back on him. So you think it's better that people die of treatable issues. You want to bar the doors and watch them die. Your neighbors. It's best they die a slow, painful death. Gosh, that seems evil. Glad we're saving some money.

This is what drives me nuts about OC discourse. People talk about play calling mostly, then scheme and design, when really what's important is can they teach the players how to execute. Can they teach them what is important to execute on each play and how to do it.

I have a son in college. The flip side is that students, abiding by the rules, are always under suspicion. Some professors aren't as generous as you are with extending good faith. Having to defend your work as authentic is becoming common.

I'm still solidly behind Trump, but I have to construct a story to tell myself so I don't feel bad about my past and future actions.

This has always been the plan. "Emergency", "Invasion", "War-time" any/all of them used to justify expansion of power.

Why do you think the NFL would be favored? Breaking tackles and playing through contact (for offense), and being violent, playing with leverage (on defense ) are what sets NFL players apart from the hundreds of guys that don't make it...those skills don't matter in flag...

More importantly, the AUDIENCE of left wing podcasts demand some level of intellectual rigor. If you aren't informed, and ask questions, you won't sustain a large following.

B, but it's clear how little I thought it through.... considering I still sorta felt that was true, but it's kinda dumb.

Really? You are an adult and you don't understand how people can blame marginalized groups for causing problems? That is basically all of human history.

They've realized it's all vibes. Simple, anger inducing, negative messaging resonates. They have recognized that is the way to create the vibes they need to attract these types of votes.

Ffs, framing it this way is as bad as all the articles that simply parrot what someone said as the whole story. She knows what she is doing...she is being told what to say for a reason.

Agreed. The lines are very blurry in our information landscape. Everyone is sure of their truth...but they're different.

I get it, but you do know that this is exactly what was said when Trump was being charged. I don't know what the answer is, but this has to be possible...

One of them makes them feel stupid...the worst crime you can commit.

Sorry this is part of what is wrong. Yes, there is often a grift, but sometimes the reward is just being shitty to people they don't like. Shitty people like doing shitty things to others.

As long as we can maintain the facade, the stronger our democracy. It's an existential gaslighting exercise.

AI makes it easier for shitty people to propagate shit. We will all have to wade through more shit.

They really don't understand art, do they? "Intentionality" is so important, even if it doesn't always show up on screen or page...it's been considered. Authorial discretion has been made about each word, cut, angle, description.

You're more than welcome to get mad at them....but we still have to figure out how to reach them.

The "vibes" voters...influenced by social media, podcasts, etc. Young people. Joe Rogan listeners.

How do you keep the brights so bright?
comment in response to

Exactly. The completely arbitrary choice of which crimes are worth responding to makes it seem petty. That's what we get when we let things slide so long and so far.

Yes. It's the perception that Toxic Masculinity is ACTUAL masculinity...so in that regard they believe the message is "men are bad", when it's really "shit men are bad, and we've let them be that way a long time..don't be a shit man."

I don't disagree with your tactics, I just disagree with the pressure points. They currently don't feel shame...our job is to increase the number of people around them to treat their behavior as shameful. I don't think that is semantics, even if I could see that argument being made.
