I've actually thought about trying my hand at integrating a small game into the browser. I think that would be really fun.
For the sake of getting a portfolio site up and running, I just wanted to implement some typical web dev stuff.

Do it!
All I did to get started was attempted to make the field goal, get stuck, Google, make progress, repeat.
Next thing I knew I was learning how to make a particle system for the grass, using gravity and wind to make a natural flag and the use of arrays and curves to make the stadium seating.
