Today I went to our local shopping mall. It was almost empty. No Black Friday crowds. Of course, I live in Guatemala and Thanksgiving is not a holiday here. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Passed a finca earlier today and took this photo. The ripening beans which folks in the coffee biz call “cherries” look like cranberries to me (albeit on a bush). Got into a Thanksgiving mood.

Prices for eggs, other basic foods, are already way lower in Guatemala than in the US. With the new 25% tariffs on imports to the US from Mexico which Trump announced today, that disparity will only grow.
