Nothing will radicalise you more than accidentally pressing the 'use Google to log in' button where the 'reject all' button used to be

there are two halflings within you, the anarcho-communist brennan lee mulligan ones, and the nosy, isolationist shire hobbits
They're not fighting or anything they're just having a heated argument over the right amount of butter on their toast

the idea that history is solely chronology and event marking is an issue non-historians have to deal with all the time
now that people are using gpt's as 'what happened and explain it to me' generators (at least in history) I have a feeling it will only get worse

Would honestly love a fantasy group of elves that like only spoke Irish. Only time I ever see them represented is as like lucky charms comedic value fantasy groups. The switcher was the one that come the closest and that was more Welsh than Irish

It's difficult, isn't it, especially considering so much of our political terminology is so era-specific.
Eco's characteristics are exceptionally useful in this regard!

Thoughts on the turn to economic history/digital humanities turn that most history students are in the midst of certain curricula for? I had little options for this in my undergrad (in Ireland) but my Res.MA was full of it!

Failed coups are a fun little rabbit hole to go down.
If you're curious aboutcoups, a great starting point is Prof. Naunihal Singh's "Seizing Power" Why some coups succeed while others fail is very fruitful ground for understanding regime change, backed by data from 470+ events.
Highly insightful

And then came the 1997 Zambian coup attempt, led by Captain Steven 'Solo' Lungu
He seized another radio gaff declared himself in charge leading a 'National Redemption Council', and it lasted... 3 hours. Arrested before breakfast.
Solo was very much the perfect name.

In 1990 Lt. Mwamba Luchembe, walked into a Zambian National Broadcasting Corp station at 3 AM, declared President Kaunda's government over, and... by 9 AM, it was over. He had no real support, no plan other than to flame Kaunda, just 6 chaotic hours and vibes.
