I've spent the last 26 years making the world more cynical, one child at a time. Now I'd like to see what we can do for the rest of them.

So excited to hang with my kids this weekend, I can't even. Picking up 28yo midafternoon to head to Mpls to see 20yo perform w/ his improv group, then Sat we all head to Madison to see 22yo in Cabaret. We'll also go to dinner w/ 20yo's partner to meet them for the 1st time. Haven't sorted where yet.

Ooh, that would have been good. I watched a hockey game. My team lost. It was still better than watching an orange turd take a fascist dump on my country.

That's a lotta money for a Big Mac and Diet Coke.

Where I live, coyotes would eat chickens. In urban areas, they DON'T HAVE BACK YARDS. Good luck raising chickens on your balcony in a city. Around half live in suburbs or small towns, many (most?) of which don't allow chickens. Advice directed to everyone but only applicable to half is useless.

Gotta find our cute feel-good stories to keep us going...

Instead of DOGE checks, 340 million Americans will each get 5 pounds of rock-hard, teeth-fracturing feed corn, delivered weeks late by an eviscerated US Postal Service

RFK really missed the simplest lesson of LBJ’s career, try not to get any kids killed if your name rhymes with “how many kids did you kill today”

Our HR manager, to someone asking about COBRA coverage: “I think if you qualify, COBRA mails you something.” Sigh.

Shopping for hotel rooms for the upcoming road trip w/ kids; 1 night in Mpls with the daughter, preferably near U of M campus for ease of Uber; then next night in Madison WI for 3 of us, preferably 3 beds (or daughter and me sharing a King with youngest in his own). Anyone have suggestions?

Wait. So does Canada beating the US in the championship mean we just became the 11th Province? Fingers crossed ...

Looking for fun tonight? Flood them with fake RSVPs. Space is limited! 😂 And Lake Elmo is hoity toity, so if you want to attend and get free food, I suggest post-gym smelly. www.tesla.com/event/celebr...

Attended funeral for ex-spouse's uncle today. Glad I went, it was good to see family (and indeed they are still family; ex and I were together for 22 years, and formative years at that). Made plans with SIL and her spouse to go see 23yo perform in Cabaret next month. Always go to the funeral.

I’d like to hear the losing team blame God after the game.

This summer's State Fair crop art is going to be WILD

😂😂😂

I'm about to head to bed, a full 30-90 minutes before I normally do. Somebody clap. I respond well to positive encouragement.

True, but I have my own office! Granted, people always traipsing thru to the storage room behind me, but they shouldn’t be eating here.

Just found a grape crushed under my work chair. I have never brought grapes to work. I can’t even recall the last time I’ve eaten one; long before I started this job, at least. Kind of a weird thing to be creeped out about, but WTF?

Tweet of the week.

And now the water-extraction people are here and it’s even louder. Glad they’re able to address it so quickly, but sheesh.

My day is going fine, but three offices here at work are flooding. The maintenance guys are not having a good Monday.

"DrugX is an eye injection. Do not take if (reasons)" Gee, thanks. I was hoping to self-administer without doctor approval.

[P] As others have noted, the @tcmtv.bsky.social programmers have got some sass. On the first full day of the second Trump term, all today's movies are about fighting fascism/Nazis/Nazi sympathizers.

A helpful thing to remember, or at least it has been for me: in hard times, there will be discrete moments—maybe lots of them—where you experience love and joy and community. It is no sin to enjoy them, and arguably more of one to refuse them.

Trying to find the good parts of today, like this one:
