All adult New Zealanders need to be aware of the intentions of the Regulatory Standards Bill. If this concerns you about the future for you, your children & grandchildren please make a submission by 13 January 2025. x.com/McDonaldGine...

This is bullshit and the police should be ashamed of themselves. "Gang insignia" has an actual meaning in law, and I think it seems very unlikely this logo meets that definition.

#BHN Economist at the CTU, Craig Renney, on why #meangirl Nicola Willis has banned him from next week's HYEFU #nzpol @chewienz.bsky.social youtu.be/3HgFyK-XUag?...

I'm not ashamed to say my clothes are worn out and I need new clothes. I'm not ashamed to say we need sanitary pads. I'm not ashamed to say my kids don't have winter clothes. How can we tolerate without your support?? www.paypal.me/Hijazi562

This thread is 💯 correct. The world failed Syria, but liberals & leftists especially failed Syria. And the world is poised to fail the Syrian people again. Because a thriving Syria would reveal the lie at the bottom of it all: all the major Middle East stakeholders need Arab democracy to fail.

14 months of genocide by Israel and Palestinians in Gaza are still having to extract the body of children from under the rubble The video is obviously graphic so I’m linking it here without uploading it www.instagram.com/reel/DDhe6Lg...

#BHN If National promised no new taxes, is their increase of ACC fees a broken promise? Is paying a tax or levy at a higher rate a new tax? #nzpol @chewienz.bsky.social youtu.be/aWxDBSElCQU

Do you want to know what a loss of hope looks like? This is the percentage increase in the number of people migrating away from NZ since the election. The 131,100 migrant departures in the October 2024 year are, provisionally, the highest on record for an annual period

Imagine living in a tent and rainwater entering it in this cold weather. And you see your kids feeling cold 💔 You are powerless to protect your children. You see them shaking from the cold. They feel hungry. They ask you for food and biscuits 🥲🥲💔💔 www.paypal.me/Hijazi562 gofund.me/4afe7094

If NZ Gov't was serious about shaking up Banking in Aotearoa NZ, 1st step should be to end its service deal with Australian bank, Westpac, and move accounts to a #NZBank! That's a lot of money that could be invested with #KiwiBank or Cooperative Bank NZ #NZpol en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westpac...

Dame Patsy Reddy’s appointment as NZ Climate Commissioner is really quite inspired. We need many skills in climate commissioner- under Rod Carr we had economics which really mattered. Reddy is someone who can potentially unite NZ around climate in tough times www.beehive.govt.nz/release/new-...

You get your own vanity ministry and throw millions of dollars at salaries. But the people you employed disagree with you, so you turn around and attack them as "the bureaucracy". Embarrassing. www.thepress.co.nz/politics/360...

The government's going to let us know by Wednesday what their plan is for the Cook Strait ferries. Picture below is entirely unrelated and absolutely not leaked from an anonymous government insider source.

CTU's Craig Renney says Treasury has shut him out of the Dec 17 HYEFU briefing. Political utu from a scrutiny-averse Govt that prefers 'Ready Fire Aim' evidence-lite policy making on the run. Just dumb. Plenty of other non-media will be there, including Taxpayers' Union, BusinessNZ & banks.

Taxpayer's 'Union' (not a real union) allowed but not the real union.

Employees should always work-to-rule, just on general principle, because that's all they pay you for. Don't do free labour for your boss. If they want more work, they can pay more or hire more people.

“We had a clinician, who was in a management role for 1 day a week and 4 days in clinical practice, take voluntary redundancy. "So they are having to bring in a locum. "We've paid redundancy to someone and then replaced them with someone on a higher hourly rate” #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

‘Vice signalling’ could describe the current NZ government’s bludgeoning approach to policy: eg always use English names first, enable te Tiriti to be undermined & ignore the growing social unrest and polarisation, cut social science & humanities research, end pedestrian/cycle ways & smoking bans.

Being on social media is necessary but also exhausting which a why I haven’t posted here much. The other horrible app is still the most active and so that’s where I am mostly. But I’m going to try to be more present here too.

The White House gave Israel the coordinates of an American family in Gaza, ostensibly to protect them. Israel used those coordinates to bomb them. theintercept.com/2024/12/06/i...

100% THIS. And I've got literal receipts from our recent bout of COVID to prove this. (And nothing but the deepest gratitude to our neighbours who'd do RAT runs for us on credit.)

Juliet Gerrard: Funding the whole pie

Vaccines against COVID-19 saved over 20 million lives in the first year alone, according to a study in Lancet Infectious Diseases. Anti vaxxers conveniently ignore such stats.

The U.N. Security Council voted 14-1 in favor of the resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the war in Gaza, but it was not adopted because of the U.S. veto. US is a scourge in global politics and a bully. No single country should have so much unilateral power on the global stage.

💯

Bernie Sanders just spent ~5 minutes on the Senate floor listing horrors American doctors in Gaza saw, as he brings resolutions to block $20bil of weapons to Israel. Those testimonies were collected by a doctor named Feroze Sidhwa, who I interviewed last month: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Two vetos in one day! One at the UN and one at US Senate. This is clear example of white supremacist settler-colonial Orientalist imperialism. US is a rogue genocidal state.

Meanwhile HRH makes his own diplomatic stand for #ToiTūTeTiriti As UK colleagues asked me: how can a conservative NZ govt have been so lacking in care/insight that it let your founding constitutional document be attacked by its own party alliances? exactly! www.independent.co.uk/climate-chan...

I was a volunteer at the hikoi, at Waitangi Park. Not sure if it's been reported on any media but there was so much aroha - Muslims For Te Tiriti gave us hundreds of curry meals, and as I was leaving, the Cambodian community gave us over 1000 meals. Aroha before politics. THAT was the hikoi!

FYI I've opened up my daily email + podcast beyond paying subscribers today so everyone can read, listen & share. The Govt just chose lower public debt, lower interest rates, higher land prices & median voter wealth now over long-term climate action. 🧵1/n...

If newly-appointed Police Commissioner Richard Chambers really wants NZers to be safer, he won't support routine arming of NZ cops but would try to get them more de-escalation training! NZ police kill people at 11X the rate of Police in England and Wales. #NZpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
