It does seem a bit strange to me that so many like ChatGPT b/c it’s essentially a yes man, confirming their priors/biases. Although I suppose all of the various snake oil salesmen are the same way

I’m also a fan of Music from a Sushi Restaurant and Adore You. Really his whole body of work is A+

I’m hopeful that the protesters happening this Saturday are a strong sign that we won’t back down.

Ahh nice. I know that Luxembourg is the go to example, but as more of a city-state it’s hard to see it as example that can be followed elsewhere

And I do think that having a nominal fee for use is probably good for many services in that in limits “joy rides” with the service (which increase costs and reduce the effectiveness of the service for those who actually need it)

At least with something like universal healthcare we can point to its widespread adoption among the developed world as a sign that it’s probably a good idea

The way things have been going recently I kinda don’t lol

I guess it also depends on the size of the down payment. My P&I is $2k for a $250k condo, but I only put $17k down. I’m sure if I were able to put $30 or $50 k down, I could afford a more expensive place

Of course, those prices are luxury to much of Milwaukee unfortunately. Even for me (where I’m fortunate to be paid well), $300k for house would be a reach for my budget

Here’s a breakdown of Milwaukee by broader neighborhoods. I do think segregation (and racism) make it difficult to judge Milwaukee’s situation since there’s plenty of affordable rentals in our primary Black and Latino neighborhoods

I can’t vouch for the accuracy, but they’re usually pretty good. Highlights a bit of the housing crunch that Eau Claire is facing, how well Minneapolis seems to be holding up, and apparently that Chicago is no longer staying as cheap is it used to be

(Although maybe that’s more of a Milwaukee specific issue b/c our economy is so poor and our median income is so low)

Without subsidies or other incentives, it doesn’t pencil to build simple and small homes/apartments with low rents
comment in response to post
We also have the problem that building any housing at all is just extremely expensive, so the vast majority of profit motivated housing is only affordable to wealthy people (who obviously want luxury tastes as well)

in hindsight, the dem establishment giving up in WI in 22 on both her and barnes in fear of a *potential* red wave instead of standing and fighting was a pretty good portent of how they they were gonna resist trump after 24. just constant rearguard actions while insisting fighting would be worse.

I'm still upset that the dem establishment yanked their ad spend commitment in 2022 and let this seat slip by 2% to a deranged alcoholic who physically participated in the Jan 6 insurrection and instead just wasted money in a Kentucky senate wipeout.

Yeah b/c Crawford won by 10. They voted to the right of Winnebago county then too!

And Kenosha hasn’t voted for a Democrat since

it is unbelievable how much gas you can get in the pundit game by simply remembering things that happened within the decade

One thing that’s kinda funny about the McGovern Park proposal is the conceptual rendering expands the parking lot of the center and new apartments. If there’s concern about losing green space to concrete, that would be a great place to start
