Yep -- it's extra large popcorn time as we watch the very messy (and entirely predictable) breakup between Elmo and Donnie.

Beautiful! I think I need to do a little more #BloomScrolling to counteract the news these days. :)

Andy Griffith was born on this day in 1926. He was a successful actor, producer, singer, comedian, writer and a prominent supporter of Democratic causes. Here is an ad he did in 2010 promoting Medicare and Obamacare. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAAw...

#GoodNewsFridayRoundup: 1) Court of International Trade ruled Trump tariffs illegal, though temporary reprieve granted; 2) Judge blocks attempt to bar Harvard's international students; 3) Tate brothers face 21 charges in UK, 4) Taylor Swift now owns her entire catalog of music.

Ezra Klein: "I cannot remember a crueler or more irresponsible piece of domestic legislation that has been seriously proposed -- and its sins are compounded by its size. If the Republicans' big budget bomb goes off, we are all in the blast radius."

It is incredibly galling to see Emperor Zero at Arlington, pretending to honor our fallen heroes. His lack of respect is compounded by the fact that he does not even understand the concept of public service. His life has always been focused on and in service to himself.

I would say let's hope that cooler heads in the Senate might prevail, but we seem to have a shortage of cool heads. The damage this administration is unleashing grows by the day. www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...

So Emperor Zero is demanding the "names and countries" of all international students at Harvard. Well, we the people are demanding the release of all "names and countries" of the people who attended your crypto dinner!

#GoodNewsFridayRoundup: 1) Fed courts block dismantling of Dept. of Education; 2) Romania’s pro-EU candidate beats hard-right rival to win pres. election; 3) House R’s drop bill’s provision to sell off 500k acres of public land in UT and NV; 4) > 1,000 #NoKings events are scheduled for June 14th.

It’s official: Over 1,000 events are planned for No Kings Day on June 14. While Trump wastes nearly $100 million on his birthday parade in DC, we will be taking to the streets everywhere else to show the world what democracy really looks like. Find your local event: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i...

This was a good discussion between Katie Couric and Paula Kerger, CEO of PBS. Paula makes a strong case for preserving public broadcasting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4G3...

This is uplifting news!

Happy 79th birthday to the iconic, talented, and always candid Cher! I also wish to "turn back time" -- preferably to a pre-Trump era. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n3A...

This isn’t just “climate denialism” – it’s environmental assault. The attacks from this administration are horrendous, premeditated, and driven by greed. This isn't about efficiency – and what they’re doing will harm our health for years to come. www.npr.org/2025/05/20/1...

"Wake up, folks. The tornado is on your doorstep, and this time you’re not going to get a warning."

Blistering and well-deserved rebuke: Trump's move against USIP, Howell wrote, "represented a gross usurpation of power and a way of conducting government affairs that unnecessarily traumatized the committed leadership and employees of USIP, who deserved better."

Ali Velshi: “In 2022, the US spent more on healthcare than six universal healthcare countries combined, and we still had worse outcomes. Our system isn’t broken because it’s underfunded – it’s broken because it prioritizes profits over people.”

Trump on the acquisition of money: “The bucks stop HERE.” Trump on accountability for mistakes and misdeeds: “The buck stops literally anywhere else.”

So cute! Just the kind of thing our timelines need! :)

Born on this day in 1937, Madeleine Albright served as the first female U.S. Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001. She wrote “Fascism: A Warning” and said Trump was the most anti-democratic leader she had studied in American history. She once described herself as an “optimist who worries a lot.”

For anyone with an ounce of empathy, these are hard times. Just know that you aren't alone. Sending virtual hugs to a world that can seem like it's wrapped in ribbons of sorrow. Take time to make a little joy today for yourself and others!

Don't ask RFK Jr. about health, or question Linda McMahon about education. This administration is the opposite of a meritocracy. It’s the most incompetent, ill-qualified, ignorant, and corrupt batch of people ever assembled to run a large (and supposedly free) country.

Beyond bizarre. I wish Emperor Zero had stayed with his TV show so we would at least have the option of turning him off.

Committing corrupt acts in public doesn’t make them okay, and "transparency" isn’t a cloak of invincibility. That would be like sanctioning a bank robbery – as long as it’s done in broad daylight, the bank robber proudly admits to it, and a video of the event is shared on social media.

Dr. David Kessler speaking to Rachel Maddow: “The President is destroying those institutions that gave birth to the drugs that are benefiting him.”

Has everyone forgotten this? On January 20, 2025, President Trump rescinded the Biden administration’s Executive Order 14087: Lower Prescription Drug Prices for Americans. He likes to break things so he can pretend to fix them. Narcissistic toddlers are like that.

Between the incompetence of this administration and the (mostly) silent response from Congress, genuine leadership qualities are in short supply -- and we can't blame fluctuating tariff rates or a pandemic for this particular shortage.

Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day!

Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give into fear. Never. Ever. 🇺🇸

Susan Glasser on the fact that a little over 100 days in, Trump is threatening Greenland and praising Iran: “This is the through-line from the minute he stepped on the public stage – attacks, often inexplicable, on America’s allies, and praise -- often inexplicable -- for America’s adversaries.”

Simply stunning!

#GoodNewsFridayRoundup: 1) New Pope expressed anti-MAGA views; 2) Mark Carney confirms (to Trump’s face) that Canada won’t be for sale – EVER; 3) Griffin concedes to Allison Riggs in NC race; 4) Two legal wins for PA voters; 5) 3-judge panel strikes down (racist) AL congressional district map.

Stephen Colbert on the new Pope’s observation that JD Vance is wrong, and Jesus doesn't ask us to rank our love for others: “Holy Father, you had me at JD Vance is wrong.”

Happy 99th birthday to Sir David Attenborough! Thank you for creating so many wonderful documentaries, including Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and the nine-part Life series.

Desi Lydic on The Daily Show: “Not to get all DOGE over here, but I think we could save some money if we stopped dropping fighter jets into the Red Sea.”

This is so lovely, Elke! The whole world would probably benefit from taking a break and enjoying nature. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and peaceful invitation!
