Amnesty International UK is urging the government to stop its plans for benefit cuts – as the social security system is already 'violating human rights'. www.bigissue.com/news/social-justice/dwp-benefits-system-human-rights-amnestry

Labour MPs speak up against the govt for treating vulnerable people as criminals. Govt to 24/7 snoop on the bank accounts of all benefit claimants. Take money without court order, no right of appeal. The same won't apply to tax dodgers, money launderers, scammers, other recipients of public money.

If you are Disabled, do not apologise for: • claiming benefits • putting your health first • self-care • using mobility aids • needing help • bad days • setting boundaries • not attending socials • not working • not yet replying to texts, calls, messages etc. You come first 💜 #DisabilityRebellion

Today @amnestyuk.bsky.social released a report exposing the brutal reality of the UK social security system that targets those already pushed to the margins. Myself & colleagues authored the section on the impacts on Disabled people. Please read & share widely! www.amnesty.org.uk/resources/so...

New “The process feels like you are on trial for murder, they act like they are trying to catch you out and that you are begging". Excellent and much needed Amnesty report on the welfare system which pushes so many into barely liveable lives. tinyurl.com/4w9rfaar

The DWP is utter chaos. They want to push through this democidal 4+ rule, then run a consultation on PIP daily living changes in late autumn, with the OBR assessment not due till October and the safeguarding review in November. It’s an absolute shitshow. #WelfareNotWarfare

"The balance here is off the scale" The government's proposed cuts to disability benefits will deepen poverty and hardship, and push many further from work. Iain Porter, senior policy adviser at @jrf-uk.bsky.social gives evidence to the Work & Pensions Committee

If I had a choice I'd give President Zelensky Russia!!!!!!

Devastating night in Kyiv. At least 9 killed & 42 hospitalised, including 6 children. Two of my surgeon friends now operating, having spent the night in bomb shelters. Putin’s murderous intent. Trump has abandoned Ukraine, so Europe, where are you? 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Disabled people who can work are worthy. Disabled people who cannot work are worthy. Disabled people who are completely independent are worthy. Disabled people who rely on others for assistance are worthy. ALL disabled people are worthy.

Labour badly failed the people who put their trust in them. They thought they’d be better than Tories, but now they’re just as bad, if not worse than them. Labour think they’re being strong by ignoring the concerns of disabled people. But not listening is weak leadership. Labour should be ashamed.

Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed. - Mahatma Gandhi -

I hope the MPs (regardless of party) who plan to vote for the green paper or abstain on it realise that we’re not going to let them get away with it. They’ll be punished by their voters. We’re not going to let up on our campaigning. We want them to feel uncomfortable. #DisabilityRebellion

Donald Trump should be banned from the UK. Fascist America can F off.

Super news: Our letter on disability benefits cuts has almost 450 signatories — incl doctors, nurses, psychologists, OTs, clergy, and crucially, disabled people & carers. Thank you!🙏 Every signature matters for Parliament & media — so please sign & share if you haven't already. tinyurl.com/2z8xu9k8

Stop #bodyshaming! There is so much more to a person than appearances. We are conditioned to aspire to look a certain way and that we are only worthy if we fulfil those requirements. Society needs to learn that beauty should not define us. We should aspire to be kind to be kind. #bodypositivity

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

🔴 'Disability, Illness and Impairment are the Norms of Human History – Living Through This Labour Government's Benefits Cuts Is Brutal' Cutting disability benefits will do nothing but heighten scapegoating. How can a Labour Government introduce such a punitive measure? @penpep.bsky.social asks

Nigel Farage has told ITV News the first thing he would do as prime minister if he won a general election would be to remove the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights That alone is good reason never to vote for Reform UK. THIS IS WHY youtu.be/MdiDDJrQUJA?...

Cutting PIP, then claiming it’s about jobs? PIP isn’t an out-of-work benefit.

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 Access to Work Scheme Owes Businesses Thousands Businesses are having to let people go or go bust altogether because the Government's Access to Work scheme - aimed at helping Disabled people in employment - is leaving them in shortfall www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/access-...

I wonder what lies the British press are publishing today about Ed Miliband? Any attempt to tackle climate change is met with a vast wave of hate. Much of our media love oil companies and hate nature!

People will wonder where we went wrong, why is everything falling apart? But it's really simple, we have 'democracies' with no democracy, where the elected Politicians do whatever the richest want and nothing the voters want. The downfall has been coming for 50+ years.

Trump’s tariffs and Brexit red tape are hammering British manufacturers—I saw it firsthand today with @iansollom.bsky.social at a factory making vital components for the car industry. We need to stand up to Trump’s trade war and secure a UK–EU customs union to protect British businesses.

'How dare you': an open letter over callous DWP PIP cuts to Stephen Timms Amid the Labour Party's callous PIP and Universal Credit cuts, one disabled Canary reader has penned a damning letter to disability minister Stephen Timms. www.thecanary.co/opinion/2025...

Disabled and ill people are constantly expected to be warriors, but we are only human. It is impossible to be to be a warrior + conceal our suffering and vulnerabilities for the sake of appearances all the time. Doing so is just as draining as our illnesses and disabilities. #DisabiltyRebellion

Have you actually heard capitalism lately? Working 40hrs + per week but can't afford rent? Can't feed your kids? Can't afford to have kids? Get a side hustle or 3. Work harder. Burnt out? That's a personal failing, not indicative of a widespread decaying society. Man up. CAPITALISM NEEDS THE 🗑

Six out of every seven children in the UK's most deprived areas living in poverty. Result of political choices - low wages, austerity, unchecked profiteering, benefit cuts, inequitable distribution of wealth. Future blighted. Govts listen to donors/rich, ignore the rest.

Despite what you are constantly told the Employment Rate in the UK is higher than most of Europe. And it is the same as it has been for the last 40 years.

The public sees #DisabilityBenefits reforms as harsh. Even Labour voters are turning: – 44% say the reforms are too harsh – 42% of Labour voters agree – Just 16% say it built trust in Labour’s fiscal plans This isn’t strength. It’s cruelty. ‘More in Common’ public survey. tinyurl.com/5a5wt6wt

Autism and POTS both get read as laziness, anxiety, or drama. But what they really share is this - a nervous system that can’t keep up with what the world demands - sensory, cognitive, physical, emotional. You’re not weak.

Daisy Cooper, "This is Donald Trump saying to the UK that he will only lower tariffs if we lower standards" "If the government gives in to Trump's threats it will only encourage him to use the same bullying tactics again and again"

Keir Starmer was elected Prime Minister on the promise of delivering positive change. How's that going...?

This 👇. 100% this. WW 3 could take a different turn and be mass civil wars against the immorally wealthy. Human society could be close to a bloody chapter leading to a significant change in balance and human society.

Benefits & disability cuts are a perfect example of how neoliberalism works. In a genuinely free market, employers would have to compete for workers by offering better pay and conditions. In our rigged system, people are coerced & exploited because the alternative is destitution.

For those of us working in the field of disability healthcare we underpin practice with the phrase ‘nothing about us, without us’ Labour would do well to consider this The needs & voices of the disability community should be at the heart of the Gov’s plans, not an afterthought

I don't want that awful Donald Trump visiting the UK. Do you?
