Today in owl news: I finally spotted one of the smol screech owls that lives in a nearby park. They should be nesting soon, but at the moment appear to be finding separate roosts.

Praxis is challenging in part because there are people who prefer theory that doesn't have to be tested by how people actually engage the world and others who want to divorce practice from theory.

No fights are the wrong fight to pick. Pick every fight. Fight these fascist fuckers every time about everything. Fight them even when they aren't fighting. If they run away, chase them and keep fighting them until they beg to stop and then fight even harder.

Yes actually bringing people into the movement by organizing them is a major part of how you build a movement’s power

Woot! After a brief-but-intense campaign, we've gotten the local school administrators to issue a statement of support for marginalized students (and clarify their safezone policy). Not finished with this campaign, as students & staff need more, but I'm glad for the win.

One thing about being a Small Town Organizer is that I desperately want to shitpost about the weird things I deal with (PEOPLE). But I can't, because someone would find it and instantly know who I'm talking about. 🎻

"where are all the protests?" read our series showing the legacy of both the Trump and Biden admins—from BLM in the 2010s, to Standing Rock, to George Floyd, to the Palestine encampments—as protest suppression and criminalization. politicians want to call blocking traffic and masking "terrorism."

Navigating some (pointless! annoying! counterproductive!) territorial disputes among local organizers, and revisiting this article from @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social Feeling grateful for a grounding piece of writing. www.teenvogue.com/story/trump-...

You can tell Republicans actually see her as a woman because they want to control her body without her consent.

One thing I think people talking about the threat of authoritarian creep have gotten, if not exactly wrong, not quite right either is to frame discussion in terms of various European precedents. Those are relevant to be sure, but we also have an American precedent - namely the South before 1965.

I am seeing more and more opinions bubbling up about how throwing trans people to the wolves would be a winning strategy for Democrats, and I just want to quickly say: Fuck off with that absolute dog shit.
