Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities. That means: 🚫 No gas from corporate giants 🚫 No fast food chains 🚫 No big-box retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.)

I can't think of a faster way to undermine the country than simultaneously firing government workers, cutting scientific research, rolling back protections on public health & environment, & cutting essential services. It's like the US was defeated in war and is being occupied by a hostile enemy.

Five former defense secretaries denounced President Trump’s firing last week of the Joint Chiefs chairman and several other senior military officials, saying that the officers were “fired for purely partisan reasons” and urging Congress to hold hearings.

No, the Pentagon budget is not actually being slashed. It's being reshuffled to finance some alarming Trump priorities, including: border militarization, "Iron Dome" for America, and militarization against China. @stephensemler.bsky.social and I analyze the latest. inthesetimes.com/article/trum...

🚨BREAKING: A federal judge ordered Trump officials with knowledge of the workings of billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to testify under oath in a lawsuit challenging the faux agency’s access to sensitive governmental databases. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Gutting Alzheimer's research. First reported more than a week ago -- and as yet, this has not been undone. Republicans appear to have not said a word about it. abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru... See also... newrepublic.com/article/1917... See also... www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA. Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps. Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems. See how this works?

"Frank traveled this month to DC to speak with Alaska’s congressional delegation... she said she was well received by Begich. “He assured that he 100% backed us on fighting to not have any cuts to Medicaid,” said Frank. Now, she said she feels betrayed by his vote..." www.adn.com/alaska-news/...

Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts. Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressionally mandated. They’ve saved millions of lives. 🧵

The FAA is close to canceling a $2.4 billion contract with Verizon to overhaul the communications system that serves as the backbone of the nation’s air traffic control and is awarding the work to Musk’s Starlink. Follow the money and see where it goes.

You've heard of girl math, but have you heard of billionaire math? Trump's temporary tax handouts for the rich are expiring this year, and Republicans want working Americans to foot the bill. They're claiming it'll cost you nothing, but in reality, these tax handouts cost trillions.

"Contracts to calibrate radiation detection equipment, to support cancer care and veterans cemetery management, among others were also targeted..." Just restating that for a sec here: -- calibrating radiation detection equipment -- cancer care -- veterans cemetaries www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Thank you, everyone! Trump’s staff purge at USAID prompted well-wishers to greet terminated workers at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington. Dismissed employees were allotted 15 minutes to collect their personal belongings.

Cowards, every single one of them

Thought we were attempting to reduce the federal deficit? Instead, Trump’s proposed budget plan is projected to significantly increase it.

If this is enacted, Indiana will be sued.

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID. This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC. What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.

After Trump embraced crypto, Coinbase gave millions to PACs backing pro-Trump candidates. After Trump's win, they gave $1M to his inaugural and listed his meme coin. Now, Trump's SEC has dropped a major lawsuit against Coinbase. See how this works?

Lawrence: Trump and House GOP taking health care away from poor people so “Elon Musk can be richer.” @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com explains the “theft” behind Elon Musk’s effort to dismantle the agency that protects against exploitation by businesses. WATCH: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqSS...

The Capitol Police arrested a group of peaceful protesters who demonstrated today in the Cannon House Office Building against the Trump’s decision to freeze foreign aid and lay off thousands of USAID workers. The president has made his message clear: disagree with them, and they will come after you.

Get in good trouble, necessary trouble.

Day 1 on the left. Day 2 on the right. Don't let anyone tell you that pushback is pointless. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202... www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Here is Rep. Nicole Malliotakis calling 264,000 of her own constituents “criminals” and “fraudsters”.

Rep Nicole Malliotakis represents Staten Island in Congress. One in three of her constituents receives health care through Medicaid.    She voted LAST NIGHT to cancel the health insurance of 264,000 of her OWN constituents.     She's betraying the voters that sent her to Congress.

Enough with the gaslighting. It is mathematically impossible to meet the requirements of the budget you voted for last night without gutting Medicaid. In fact, you signed the below letter A WEEK AGO acknowledging that. So were you lying then or are you lying now?

The GOP passed a budget resolution tonight that will gut Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs — as 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Why? To finance more tax cuts for the top 1%. We have socialism in this country for the rich, harsh capitalism for everyone else.

This is what House Republicans voted for tonight. Another reminder that we have socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for the rest.

R’s have the votes in the House to cut Medicaid. That could/should change. Voting for the “framework” might be easier than voting to actually enact Medicaid cuts, but R’s won tonight. We will fight this in Senate but it will come down to people outside of the capitol being sufficiently pissed off.

Haha 😂 Trump appointees at USAID sent terminated employees a list of over 100 prohibited weapons they cannot bring when retrieving their belongings. The list includes firearms, axes, martial arts weapons like nunchucks and throwing stars, spearguns, and even dynamite.

Former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince wants the Trump administration to let private military contractors take over mass deportations. None of this is about making America safe. It's about using human suffering to enrich the border-industrial complex.

Vital services and protections for everyday Americans are being gutted thanks to DOGE. And this is happening in exchange for renewing one of the biggest tax cuts in American history that will predominantly benefit people like...you guessed it...Elon Musk. See the problem here?

They’re cutting Medicaid

Trump says his 25 percent tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican goods will begin next week. Reminder: tariffs aren't paid by other countries. They're eventually paid by us at the checkout line.

1400 more firings at Veterans Affairs: "Officials said specifically that Veterans Crisis Line responders were not affected by the dismissals. But workers within the department said that support staff for the crisis line were among the workers let go..." www.militarytimes.com/veterans/202...

When Musk’s role in govt or in FAA oversight was under consideration, perhaps it was fair to say “raising concerns about conflicts.” When he announced SpaceX would redesign the ATC system, that was at least a clear conflict. Now they’re buying SpaceX products to do it, it is just plain corruption.

Not really the intention of this particular act of protest, but if anyone wanted Donald Trump to take the problem of AI deepfakes seriously, this is probably not a bad way to go about it: youtu.be/26SNH8iuC-M?...
