8 Air Experience Flight at RAF Cosford. If memory serves, my first one was in 1976.

Been to East Kirby (check out profile pics), a great pod & that letter… I think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell.

Built this during lockdown. A 1960s Airfix classic. It fought me every inch! An Airfix Anson was my first kit aged 6. Bought for me by my Dad. I loved the fact the turret moved & the undercarriage was retractable. If I remembered I used green & brown wax crayons as camo! 😂

Tamiya tape & a very sharp scalpel & you can make your own masks. Very fiddly & frustrating. But satisfying when it’s done!

David Bowie’s Heroes, covered live by Blondie. It’s on the B side of the 12” version of Atomic. I’m a huge Bowie fan, but Blondie’s cover is magnificent. youtu.be/ABEqQKlWLC0?...

You can’t ask me that, that’s like “What’s your favourite tune!” Today it’s er… Spitfire PRXIX. Tomorrow it might be a Jaguar GR1A, the day after a Mosquito FB VI. Impossible to say…

Avro York. There’s one at RAF Cosford Museum.

It’s good to be Irish & a rugby fan at the moment. I’m not looking forward to England’s first game of the tournament.

The best concert I ever saw, Birmingham New street Odeon 1983 (I think). The Misplaced Childhood gig. Utterly epic!

No. Very much earth bound.

My first ever flight was in a Chipmunk at 8 Air Experience Flight at RAF Cosford around 1976, I’m guessing.

Watched this again via your link yesterday afternoon, my wife had never seen it before & it was interesting getting her take on it. Suffice it to say she was very moved. What Masters of the Air did with CGI & a multi million dollar budget, this did just as effectively & movingly on a shoestring.

The best bit of this was the end line. “The reason there was a war was that it was too much trouble not to have one.” Which was what I said to a German taxi driver returning to barracks after a beer during the run up to Gulf War 1.

That’s a coincidence, I rewatched that episode this afternoon. For the umpteenth time. Probably more…

Great pod! In the 70s or maybe 80s I’m sure I remember a BBC play about RAF Bomber crews suffering from “LMF” in a military hospital, who at night, got out of their beds & re-enacted a raid. It was utterly brutal & pitiful. Did I dream that or is that something you know about?
