OpenScope has been a game-changer in neuroscience and served as a shining example of #OpenScience. I'm incredibly proud of how this program has allowed important questions about the brain to be pursued and shared with the world.

Eavesdropping electrodes help neuroscientists listen in on individual neurons and study how their activity can encode cognitive maps. By @claudia-lopez.bsky.social #neuroskyence www.thetransmitter.org/cognition/si...

I recently spoke at a Congressional briefing with a military veteran from our PTSD clinical trial on the life-changing impact of the NIH Brain Initiative. Watch here👇 braininitiative.nih.gov/news-events/... The BRAIN Initiative is now facing a 20% cut on top of the 40% last yr…

🚨 New lab paper!🚨 A dream study of mine for nearly 20 yrs not possible until now thanks to NIH 🧠 funding & 1st-author lead @seeber.bsky.social We tracked hippocampal activity as people walked memory-guided paths & imagined them again. Did brain patterns reappear?🧵👇 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

By putting a donut between our faces and each article we read, we were able to extract more information than ever before about MINFLUX. You can read the new review article from @maxperutzlabs.bsky.social by Lukas Scheiderer, myself, and @jonasries.bsky.social at www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Weekend cleaning out the in-laws place means getting treasures like a lovely microscope and a pintail.

New study finds that pain and itch are processed by specific neurons in the cingulate cortex. I wonder what that means for theories that say that anything in these areas should be considered interoception? 🤔 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Neuroscience students asked us to teach a PRACTICAL course on experimental methods, and it is now on YouTube! Please like and repost to help us get the word out! www.youtube.com/playlist?lis... Lecture 1: Signals and data acquisition Focusing on hardware, digital/analog I/O, synchronization 🧵

Curious about your brain? Join the largest all-ages, public celebration of art, music & brain research! 🧪 🧠 In addition to brains, art making & music, there’ll be presentations from PSU, OHSU & more, including former Congressional Neuroscience caucus co-Chair Earl Blumenauer. @nwnoggin.bsky.social

Four years ago today (younger me in the photo!) I started a job that was be the place I could learn, grow and make a difference, while still using my neuroscience knowledge and passion. Planning to keep doing the good work to support science and scientists for as long as they will let me.

www.nature.com/articles/s41... awesome new work out today! From the Lee lab in the intramural research program at NIMH!

I should like a hug

Let’s record some motor units

She is finished. I think I hate her but here we are.

If you are a young professor in behavior or neuro who can benefit from training in being a professor, do apply. Last week to apply for this.

First attempt at 3D re-constructing the #Horizontalcell from my transduced #chick #retina. Cells can be very dramatic. All you need is a GIF and some Pavarotti notes 🎵 Sample by @neurofishh.bsky.social Great time for some #FluorescenceFriday.

How many hours a day can I lay on the floor before it's considered unhealthy?

Doubleplusgood.

The sap flows. (Ignore Loretta digging in leaves for a ball in the audio background)

WHAT IS THIS, A PRISM FOR ANTS?! (Trying out some super cool subcortical imaging soon, if this works!)

We’re official doing two photon imaging (and chronic too!). So much work to do but all of these firsts are special

Every year for valentine's day I make a custom set of cards for my partner based on a recent interest. In the past we have had the show Love, Witcher, Brad Leone, DIY YouTube, Possums and others. This year we have: Taskmaster.
